RE: style challenge: skinny pants

Honestly, I like the look of skinny pants.  But I also feel like you have to be super skinny and model height in order to pull it off.  I just think they can be tricky to make look good.  However, if you really like them and feel good in them, I say go for it.

I'd wear them myself, but I seem to have been blessed with wide hips, not exactly something that looks good in skinny pants

Well in that case, it's sounds like you're built to wear them

I think you could wear some cute fitted shirts with some killer heels, for going out, or even just wearing casual shirts with some flat sandals.  I don't know if these would be considered skinny jeans, but here's Ashley Olsen with a casual look with them on..

i like the idea of skinny pants (though they're not for me). however i don't like the way mischa wears them -- not feeling the whole 80's thing she does with them. imo they look cute when they're slightly short and paired with more classic pieces, in my head i'm thinking audrey hepburn. if i could wear skinny pants i'd pair them with ballet flats, a white button down, and several strands of pearls. i'd finish the look by tying a scarf in my hair and wearing oversized shades.

similar to this, sorry can't find some ballet flats right now.

or alternatively for a dressy look you could pair them with a loose top and strappy sandals

Thanks Honey!  I was hoping you would respond. I dont know how I got this into my head (probably from reading your other posts and suggestions to other girls) but I knew you would come up with some ideas.

As for the pants I'm going to try and find a b&m store that carries pants like these and try them on to be sure.

thanks for all the help ladies.

I think they're cool as long as you're skinny. I would wear real cool shoes with them though cause they really show them off. But not wedges.

I really like short skinny pants paired with boots in the fall/winter and, as honey said, with cute flats and an Audrey Hepburn vibe in the summer. Longer skinny pants always seem harder to wear to me. Actually my sister is maybe 5'8" and all of her jeans are super skinny and she wears them with all sorts of shoes - pointy toe kitten heels, Chuck Taylors, etc.
For tops, I just wear whatever I would wear with regular pants. I do think longer tops and dresses-over-pants often look better when paired with skinny pants. Also I like to wear them with boat neck tops - I guess that goes with the whole retro/Audrey look.

Since you said you're skinny, you should totally rock them! I think you could have a lot of funy...I really like honey's suggestions.

(I will not be wearing these pants...I can see the bubble butt in my future)
