Exercise at home- What do you do?
Permalink Closed

I'm going to start an at-home exercise routine.  What do you recommend?  I don't have a treadmill or any other major equipment, but will go out and buy whatever small equipment or videos I'll need.

What's your routine when you exercise from home?

I go for walks and do an arm routine with a pair of 5lb weights. I found a great routine in an issue of SELF about a year ago. If you keep your eye out you can find good routines in the health mags that don't require alot of equipment. I used to do sit-ups, but it seemed like they didn't do enough to make it worth the trouble.

I work out at home all the time! yoga/pilates tapes are great and you can do arms with weights- pretty cheap and also doesn't take up much room.

Set of dumbbells (3-5 pounds) pilates tape, and set of walking shoes to go walk outside if you can. That should be enough. Walmart and Target have a good selection of tapes.

Anyone recommend any Pilates DVD's?  Also, I remember a few months ago, Real Simple magazine rated exercise equipment and videos.  Anyone remember what month it was?

I do a Pilates Sculpt video. It always kicks my butt! It uses pilates moves w/ weights. It's not a true pilates video, but it's a great intro to some of the moves and it is a GREAT workout! :)

Weights and pilates are good, like the other women said but I also have a kickboxing dvd that kicks my ass. I use it when it's raining out and take it with me when I visit my parents. It's fun and gets a good cardio in. You need some space, so move a coffee table out of the way first!

I have the windsor pilates 20 minute dvd and its good but not as challenging as the advanced one but the advanced one is also 50 minutes! I hear the crunch pilates dvd is really good from on here.  I just downloaded it and haven't burned it out yet so I can't comment on it. Paula Abdul has an old dance workout at walmart and target that is pretty good from what i remember.
