I was just watching the Samantha Brown show on the Travel Channel and she stayed at this hotel called La Posada in Santa Fe. It was realyl cool.I didn't know there was so much art in that city. She walked down Canyon Road and said there are like 80 (or something like it) art galleries on it.

Anyway, it's a really pretty city I am now looking forward to visiting there next year. Just thought I would mention it to you cause I thought of you as I watched the show.

Hi Irene - Oh, yes... Santa Fe is one of the biggest art markets in the world (maybe the country).  La Posada is gorgeous.  There is a really vibrant community of artists as well - and there opera and chamber music festivals are world class.  You'll love it!  And the food.... amazing.  New Mexico has its own cuisine and it is really special.

Canyon road is very swishy.  There is a FABULOUS restaurant there - Geronimo.

If you & Gary need a place to stay, let me know and I'll cut you a deal.  ;)  Or if you need any recs of any kind - I can recommend hotels if you're more into that and also restaurants and spas and shops.  I think I am headed out the end of April to get the house ready for summer renters - every trip I come back with more ideas!  It truly is the "land of enchantment."

Cool DC. I will definitely keep that in mind.

Hey, I just found out that Gary has property in Albuquerque (sp?). Do you know anything about that city?

Hey Irene... Albuquerque is like an hour south of Santa Fe. I fly in there and rent a car and drive to SF. If I am too tired to drive I stay one night in ABQ. I like it - it's different from Santa Fe, less glitz. There are some fun touristy things to do (Old Town, Sandia Peak tramway, petroglyphs) and it makes a good and affordable jumping-off point for other parts of NM. Before I lived out in Taos (which was like 10 years ago) I once stayed at a campground (in a tent) outside of ABQ for like a week with a friend of mine (don't ask... long story), and we hung out in town and also made some little day trips to Santa Fe and Taos and also some other little places.

HTH!
