dry clean only jeans?
Permalink Closed

I got this pair of COH Ingrids on sale and now I look at them and see the dreadful "dry clean only" label... Do I *have* to dry clean them? I wash my jeans pretty often, but only go to the dry cleaners once in a blue moon. Does anyone have experience with high-end denim - how many times do you wear them before dry cleaning? And what will happen if I wash them?

I just got some from my Husband for Valentines Day.  Where did you find them on sale??  He didn't have that luck!

I hadn't even read the cleaning instructions but planned on having them dry cleaned for the simple fact that I have everything dry cleaned if I have quite a bit of money invested.  However, if you choose not to I believe you could probably hand wash them and hang them to dry.  I wouldn't trust the dryer though!

I both wash and dryclean my jeans. I don't wash too often though. When i do wash I do it on cold gentle cycle inside out. then i dry for a little bit, then hang dry for the rest if I want them to shrink a little and be more fitted. Or if they fit perfect and i don't want to shrink I hang dry and then put in the dryer for a few to fluff them then iron.

I dont think I ever even looked at the care tag. I wash inside out and hang to dry and have never had any problems.

I've got a pair of COH and I always washed them on gentle and either let them air dry or let put them in the dryer for a tighter fit. They're too big now so I'm going to have to suck it up and buy a new pair because even the dryer isn't even getting them tight enough anymore.

Does dry cleaning reduce the chance of jeans shrinking? My 7 A pockets fit me just right and I would hate to wash them in the machine and have them get all tight. It's harder for clothes to shrink during dry cleaning, right?
