Help with my printer
Permalink Closed

I know this should probably be in the tech style section, but I figured that more people would see it here.  I'm trying to print out some things for my portfolio in color and my printer (well, my bf's printer) won't print properly in color.  Everything has a red/orange tint to it and there isn't any blue printing or blue tinting at all. I've tried adjusting the color settings, but that's not helping. Does anyone know what is going on and how to fix it??? Thanks.

Sounds like you are out of the blue ink.  Try buying a new color cartridge for the printer.

This probably isn't that helpful, but I would PDF everything and email it to your local Kinkos or to yourself and then go to Kinkos and print it. The quality of their color printers far exceeds anything most of us have at home, anyway!

hmm then bring it back and complain if it isn't printing anything but red.  Each cartridge is made up of 3 pigments so maybe its missing the blue one.    It might be defective or it might be the printer.  Let me email my tech people and see what they think.

When you view colors on a monitor, you view them in RGB (red, green, blue) and printed documents are CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black).  So, if you are printing a document that is RGB, it may not print out the same as it appears on the screen.  Maybe you need to convert the colors from RGB to CMYK.  What program are you printing from?

Grrr...I already did that. I think that lsubatgirl is right. I have a defective ink cartridge or printer.  It's not a huge deal b/c I'm getting a really good printer/scanner/fax machine soon, but I wanted to print stuff out today!!!  Boohiss.

Hey girl I just talked with my IT guy and he said the only thing he can think of is a defective cartridge.  Sorry.

That's what I figured. Oh well, it was the free one that came with the printer, so I guess we'll have to go out and buy another one.  Thanks for your help.

Printers are the devil!  I don't even use mine.  It's always broken and it is always so hard to figure out what the problem is.  Right now it makes scary loud noises and prints out pages of secret code.  I am forever e-mailing myself stuff so I can print it from work or someone else's computer.

My old printer makes this horrible squealing sound when it prints...it sounds like a cat being tortured. I don't use that printer anymore.
