Last minute trip to the theater, outfit panic...
Permalink Closed

Soooooo, my mom and my hubby decided to take me to the theater this friday to see Wicked biggrin and i am having a little bit of an outfit crisis. I had a baby last year and have gone up a size and now i work all the time and really all i have in my closet are work clothes and some very disheveled casual stuff. So, the only thing i think i really have to work with is a black turtleneck, a darkwash denim pencil skirt from urban outfitters about 2 years ago, and a closet full of shoes. I have a large black patent envelope clutch i would like to carry.

So the real challenge is, i have 1 day to prepare and the only thing near me is a kohls and a target. Pathetic I know. So can anyone help me with some ideas.

work clothes would probabaly work. Do you have a pair of nice wideleg black pants that you could wear with the turtleneck? I'd do that with some killer shoes, othe clutch, and maybe a colorful silk scarf. (kind of thinking along the lines of "artsy chic")

What's the most colorful pair of heels that you have in your closet? I would pair them with the turtleneck, denim skirt, black tights, that clutch you already own, the colorful shoes. You can then go to Kohl's and Target to see if you can find a long, chunky necklace in the same shade/color family as the shoes.

Essentially, I'm suggesting the same thing as ILoveChoo, stick with the basic stuff you already own and let your accessories shine.

Plus, all you'll have to buy is a necklace or two! Cheap!

I agree, I love the idea of a turtleneck and a denim pencil skirt and then some colorful heels or a pair of chunky boots if you have them! Then go to Target and buy some bright accesories!

I'd stick with what you have in your closet  - also do you have a work piece that could go casual - a cool cami and blazer you you throw over the pencil skirt to dress it up?

Shoes and the bag can always make the outfit, so wear your coolest shoes or boots with your black patent clutch!

Friday night at the theater calls for business attire IMO.

I would stay away from denim and go with slacks. I like the outfit ILoveChoo suggests. With cool accessories, shoes and the bag you describe, I think slacks and turtleneck would be chic and comfortable.

I went to wicked a few months ago and I can say that it was very mixed crowd of style. I would suggest the pencil skirt you already have, maybe head to target and get a cute satin top, put it with your great shoes and your clutch and your good to go!
