really weird news I'm happy about...

so I went to my ob/gyn and she told me that after my surgery, I only need to get checked out under the hood every 2-3 years now (bonus!)  provided that I don't have HPV (not so bonus.) 

so she tested me and I got a message today to call them about my test results... I was just devastated because why would they call me if it was negative.  I'm thinking, oh man, what should I do, I don't want cervical cancer, why do I have to have one more health problem...

then I talked to the nurse - the test was NEGATIVE.  I was so relieved! yay! I don't have HPV! lol

anyway - it made me happy, just thought I'd share smile

I agree - celebrate the little things in life!

pollyjean23 - the reason I called it weird news is because I thought it was a little strange to post about the celebration of not having picked up an STD in my younger days (or would that be an STV since it's a virus?) anyway - that's why I called it weird wink


ETA a definition of HPV in the event that some may not be aware of what it is (and you should be if you're a woman who's had sex!)

What is genital HPV infection?

Genital human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). The virus infects the skin and mucous membranes. There are more than 40 HPV types that can infect the genital areas of men and women, including the skin of the penis, vulva (area outside the vagina), and anus, and the linings of the vagina, cervix, and rectum. You cannot see HPV. Most people who become infected with HPV do not even know they have it.


One more ETA - HPV has been known to cause cervical cancer

that is good news!  I think it's great that they call to tell you it's negative because the "no news is good news" deal is what allowed my friend Lisa's breast cancer progress.  They found something but dropped the ball/lost chart and she went 6 more months.  So good for your Dr. for calling with negative results.
