nope.  we went to dinner.  i didn't get a card, and i feel like a brat for being disappointed about not receiving a card, but it's just such an easy task to accomplish.

1.  go to target.

2.  buy card.

3. sign said card.

4. give card to GF.

i am happy we went to dinner.  i am a brat.

Nah, you're not a brat. Don't blame yourself. Blame Hallmark. It's just like New Years (my own personal pet peeve holiday). Everyone builds it up so much - you should have the best time ever! - and then when said best time doesn't happen, although it might be a perfectly lovely time, we are disappointed. And depressed. And need to go buy ourselves something to feel better. It's an evil cycle! One which I participate in fully, however.

Besides, how hard would it have been to buy a card?

One of my friends did. She went out with this guy in high school and was in love with him and they just started dating again about a year ago. I am so happy for her because she has dated some mean people.

Well, I'm already engaged (for 2.5 years and counting) but I thought I share my story.  I came home to a card last night (we went out to dinner on Sun).  I was feeling/shaking it - 'cause I do that to every present - and I felt two lumps.  My first thought was "OMG!  He got me earrings!"  I rip it open to find . . . . . . A hippopotamus with two googly eyes.  The caption says "Thanks for making me what I am . . ." (so I'm thinking okay no earrings but he's still so sweet!).  I open the card to read the rest of the caption, this is what it says:  "Horny."

Great, hon.  Funny.

obviously i didn't but i saw this really funny (in a sick twisted way --- i'm not bitter) story on pti (espn show). this guy proposed to his gf during half time at a b-ball game and she ran away. the "funny" part was the commentary b/c it was so spot on, especially considering it came from sports analysts. they essentially said how the guy was kind of selfish b/c he wanted to make this big spectacle out of it, and it was obvious from the girl's reaction that he had not discussed marriage with her ahead of time. i just thought that was a really smart thing for them to say to all the guys who were watching who were thinking about surprising their gf's but hadn't thought to take her feelings into consideration. sorry if that was a downer/

I heard about that, too. But then I heard it was a hoax. So who knows?

I didnt get a card either.  I'm not a card person either- I hate having to pick them out.  The whole process of trying to find a card that says what you want it to say and they never do.  So I usually dont give cards- for any reason.  However I did get a card for bf and I didnt get one in return.  Kind of disappointed considering how much i hate picking out cards and i did!!!

What a typical guy thing to do, especially when he's been in a relationship for a while. I could totally see my boyfriend doing something like that. At least the hippo is cute, right?

My boyfriend doesn't "believe" in cards - doesn't really bother me, I couldn't see him putting any emotion into a card, but it would be nice once in a while to get a card along with a present.

Mine, too. I don't really understand the concept of not "believing" in cards. Cards are not a faith or a political platform. You don't have to take any sort of oath to enter a Hallmark store. What is there to "believe" in?

My brothers gf will refuse a present if it doesn't have a "proper" card with it. That means no computer made cards, no handmade card, and absolutely no cards from the dollar store. But I don't want to be like that, that's just ugly.

I got a gift but it wasn't wrapped. Nothing more romantic then just handing your girlfriend an HMV bag with presents in it. Would it have been so hard to get a gift bag at least?
