I read this awhile ago at Uni. A lot of the dialogue is in a strange Russian-ish vernacular so you have to get used to that (it's not difficult, but some people are annoyed by it in books). It's very violent. It's very sexual. Much drug taking (voluntary and involuntary) is involved. It's not a book you're going to be able to get the meaning(s) of with a casual read-through.

If it makes you refer to your fellow STers as droogs it'll be worth it.

I love that book, but like Mia said the writing is hard to get use to. I started the book about 3 times before I finished. When they made a movie out of the book it was orginally rated X, so again like Mia said- lots of sex, drugs and violence. I loved the book and loved the movie. I have a old version of the book and in the back it would translate the Russian to English. I don't know if other books have that or not.

In a futuristic Britain, a gang of teenagers go on the rampage every night, beating and raping helpless victims. After one of the boys quells an uprising in the gang, they knock him out and leave him for the police to find. He agrees to try "aversion therapy" to shorten his jail sentence. When he is eventually let out, he hates violence, but the rest of his gang members are still after him.
