after 11 days my power has been restored. (I lost power because of Hurricane Ike) They were the longest 11 days of my life. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but I am so happy to have it back. I have a new appreciation for electricity. :) Unfortunately, I don't have internet, cable, or phone since the company is still trying to fix it.
I just wanted to share that with you, because I am sooo happy to have power back! Thanks for reading!
me too! Mine was out for a week, and we still don't have cable. I work from home and I was about ready to lose it. I've been holding out to buy a Mac notebook in October but I almost broke down last week just so I could have access.
My sympathies for sure! I was without my computer for one day this week because I let my husband borrow it as his was being repaired. I felt like the world was going to end as I know it.
There's a bumper sticker on Facebook that says something to the effect of I love my computer, my friends live in it. I feel the same!! I listened to a mom vlog about how people never SEE each other anymore. Don't make the time on a regular basis. If it weren't for my internet connection my sense of belonging and connection to both "real life" and virtual relationships would be ka-put.
And for those of you who are working girls...that's a whole other level!

That is awful Claudia! I have friends that are still without it and they are getting very frustrated! We were lucky and got ours back on right before we got home from evacuating. Is your home ok? I hope so! It was so scary to deal with. We live near Kemah and I was really wondering why the heck I live so close to the coast!
It was awful. I tried not to be home until I was ready to sleep. I was at the mall pretty much everyday. I went to school way earlier than my scheduled classes and stayed after. My house was so hot. Luckily, we had battery operated fans that we got when we went camping. The mosquitos were awful. There were so many and OFF didn't work. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.
And as of today my cable, internet and phone are working.
ranchera20, I think Houston is ok. There are still people without power though. There was just a lot of fallen trees. The roots and everything came out. There were a lot of broken signs and all the lights were out. But now it seems like everything is going back to normal.
joy0302, my house is fine. There are just a few missing shingles from our roof. Three branches fell from our trees around the house. They fell away from the house though. I live in the northern part of Houston by IAH so it wasn't too bad.
gosh, how scary, i didnt realize you were affected by it. I'm glad you are okay. Im so sorry you had to deal with the inconveniences, though.
To make you feel better, my friend is volunteering in an orphanage in Hati and they've been told that their power will be out for MONTHS!
