I need a hair cut...
Permalink Closed

I haven't had a haircut for a year now and it needs it.  Presently, it's pretty much one length and half-way down my back (it grows quickly.) It doesn't look bad, per se, but it could look better.

I was thinking about thick bangs and layers, but we're doing this trip to Ecaudor and Peru, and I'm worried that bangs may be too high maintenance.

I'm going to look at the link that kmd provided for styles, but if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them...

ETA- my hair texture is fine and thick with a natural wave/light curl (hence the concern over bangs, but I would love to have them)

do you think if I got thick bangs like this, that they would weigh down any natural curliness?  If I could just comb my bangs into place and let them air-set, that could be a low-maintenance option for me. thoughts?

I have the same texture hair as you and no matter how thick my bangs have been, I've always had to run a straightener through them. I've never been able to air dry and expect them to look decent. My hair is VERY affected by the humidity in the air though so if yours isn't, you may be able to get away with letting them air dry.

I have super thick curly hair and bangs have always been a no-no. I think you'd have to straighten them.

Yup, I think you would have to straighten them or blow dry them with a brush. That hair style would look great on you though. Post pics after you get your hair did aww.gif

I LOVE the style.  The bangs are super cute, and I think you could rock that style big time.  My concern about getting it done before your trip is that it may be a little too difficult to manage in the humidity.  My question for you is what will you do when you exercise or perspire in the heat and the bangs get all curly? Or am I the only one this happens to? *sigh*

I think the bangs in the pic you provided show the actual bangs start way back on the crown of her head.  This would likely provide some weight so they'd lay flatter?

In my experience, bangs that short will curl if you have any sort of a curl in your hair (I barely do and I would have to straighten mine). Its not much of a bother though, sometimes I just blow my bangs out for 3 mins, or wear a scarf on them when getting ready, by the time they dry they're ok.

When is the trip?

I think I'm just going to get a cut that will lend some shape to my hair and clean it up for right now.  I can get the bangs after the trip.  There will be some 6AM excursions and I want low-maintenance hair smile

The trip is November 15-29 -- I can't wait!

Good idea D - make an appointment for the cut the day after you get back. And you have to post pics!

oh my gosh i made this exact mistake before i went to Guatemala last summer. Its kind of comical now, thinking about how attrocious i looked, wild bangs everywhere. okay, maybe its not that funny.

I got my bangs re-cut right before the honeymoon and for the most part I just clipped them to the side or up over the top of my head (kinda like a mini pompadour?). Super easy.

I think the bangs would look fab on you D and can't wait to see the pics!

p.s. straightening the bangs takes like oh... 20 secs. It was even a breeze to do in Greece if that's all I wanted to straighten.
