Help me Find a Dress for a Wedding
Permalink Closed

Can someone help me find a dress for a wedding!?!?

The Rules:

This is a wedding back home, so I can't look to flashy, I want to look classy, but I have to show my personality (I love color!)

I hate long dresses. I want something calf length or below the knee

I am 5'4" and have an athletic build - keep that in mind.

Thank you so much! I am desperate!

What's your budget?  Do you prefer straight or a-line skirt style?  What will the weather be like where/when the wedding occurs?

Try ewindsor.com they have some really cute dresses with sass! Also BR and JCrew usually have cute colorful yet muted dresses. HTH!

What time of day is the wedding and where is it being held (church, hotel, club, etc)?

Ok. The wedding starts at 2 pm. The wedding itself is in a church. The reception is in a banquet hall, I believe. Unfortunately when I go home, a firehall or a banquet hall are the options for wedding receptions (Thank god I moved away!!)

I am liking an a-line dress on me lately also. I am in the Northeast so, it will be cold. And I am going for under $150.

If you know of any good dress sites, Please let me know!!

I recently went to a wedding and wore just a simple black susana monaco tube dress (shopbop.com carries them) with black heels and a long gold lariat and three gold bangle bracelets. It was really nice because her dresses are really, really basic, but casual enough to avoid being too much, yet dressy enough to be appropriate, and the tube style is only really fitted from the bust through your hip, then the cut is loose so it's not tight through like the usual tube dresses you see - it looks really elegant. It comes in chocolate brown as well as in a longer length which is the one I wore (i'm also 5'4) and then a shorter one that hits about at the knee.

the best part is that it really can be dressed up or down. i wore it with a burgandy wrap because it was chilly but you could do a skinny metallic scarf, play up the shoe, etc.
