I am so tired of using my really cheap Bic pens...I used a nice pen the other day and taking notes in class is so much nicer and easier! so now i want to buy a nice pen or 2...nothing outrageously expensive but something more than the 20 for 2 dollar packs or whatever they are. any recommenations??

I like anything with a felt tip. I usually use green Flair pens because they're cheap. My dad collects fountain pens and only writes with those, he's tried to convert me but it hasn't happened yet.

I like felt tips also, but my all-time fav are uni-ball pens. The black is a rich, dark black, and you can buy them with different sized points. The have a little window on the side so you can see the ink level, which is nice so you don't unexpectedly run out of ink. They come in fun colors too! The only downside is that the ink takes a second to dry, so you can smudge them easily. These are really the only pens I use.

I love Flairs! (They're the felt tip ones, right? They come in red, blue, black & green? I "borrowed" a box of them from the office last year )

Also love Sanford Calligraphy in the pastel set, and Pilot Precise in the pastel colors.

I totally second the Uni-ball rec...whenever I forget to bring a pen with me, I buy them from the school bookstore in turquoise and lavender (I am such a color dork).

I also like Pilot G2 pens because they have nice strong ink and come in great colors too.

The greatest pen ever IMO is the "Pilot Dr. Grip Gel".  It is amazing and not too smudgey.

I love that one to (the Dr. Grip from Pilot). The gel ink doesn't smudge but comes out nicely, and the wide pen with a grippy part makes it really comfortable. I bought mine at Walgreens. I think they are around $6.
