Eyeliner & Lipstick - recs?
Permalink Closed

I a running low on these makeup essentials and will need to replenish soon, so I thought I'd see what everyones favs were.  I'm a drugstore girl for now, so I'm mostly looking for reasonably priced options.

Eyeliner?  Right now I'm using an Estee Lauder freebie, but I need something that is going to stay on my oily lids.

Lipstick?  Need a good, everyday formula that will stay on - no lipglosses.

Have you ladies tried anything really good lately?

I am generally a drug-store girl too, but I tried Lancome's eyeliner and it's great.  It goes on and stays on.  I think it's worth the investment.

How much is the Lancome eyeliner?  Is it pencil/liquid?

have you tried Stila's smudge pot? It's way cool, and that stuff doesn't move.

edit: forgot about lipstick. Clinique's Long Last Soft Shine lipsticks stay on a long time and aren't drying, but the color selection isn't for everyone. Also, I got Jane lipstick (in browned-down red) and it stays on through lunch (keep in mind that I talk and drink water all day).

The Lancome eyeliner is $26.50.  It's called the Artliner.  It's liquid and comes with a foam pencil-y thing to help put it on.  It makes it pretty easy to put on.

I use Clinique's quickliner for eyes, it's a pencil (no need for sharpener as it rolls out) and it has a sponge on the other end of the pencil.  I love it!  Have been using it for 7 years now and have tried other samples on the way, nothing works like it.

I have the greasy eye-lid problem as well. I really recommend the Smudge Pots. They are $16, but they will seriously last about 10x longer than any pencil. The only problem is buying a brush to use it with. But I feel like eyeliner brushes can be synthetic, so maybe a drugstore oen would be fine.

As for lipsticks, I like CG Outlast Smooth Wear (the one that's more lip-glossy). It lasts a long time and isn't too drying. I REALLY like the new Chanel long lasting glossimers. They really stay put and have more of a lipstick coverage. They are totally not drying. But unfortunately, they are mucho money... I think $30. The texture is seriously incredible though.

You can't beat using a MAC Shadestick as eyeliner (I use the charcoal gray, Sharkskin) if you're lazy like me!

It stays on my greasy lids and doesn't budge for a second. I think it's 13.50, and the tube will last you 4-6 months if you use it frequently.

I have no lipstick recs, though.

I really like MAC's kohl pencils.  Can recommend any lipsticks, I'm a lip gloss girl.

I use benefits bebe cakes for eyeliner.  It comes with half of it brown and half of it black so you get 2 for $18.  Mine has lasted me over a year so its a good deal.  The only thing is that it doesn't come with a brush so you'd have to buy one but I'm sure target has some good cheap eyeliner brushes.

Sephora eyeliner runs $4 a pencil but it doesn't work well with greasy eyelids.  I think their lipsticks are pretty cheap too $8 maybe which is only a dollar or two more than drugstore.  You might want to check them out if you can.
