My bf just got a huge promotion and we will be moving to the Princeton, NJ area in 6-8 months.  I'm excited to be moving and I'm happy for him b/c he got the promotion that he's been wanting. 


Here's my problem. I was supposed to interview for a job (on Monday) that I would probably really like. The thing is, it's way too far of a commute from Princeton and if I would take it, I would have to quit within 4-5 (which is barely any time at all).  My current job is getting better (with the exception of the night and weekend hours) and our new DM wants to promote me and place me on a task force to go around to other stores and get them on the right track (which I would like doing). This job would also transfer me to my new location. I actually think that I would like being a District Manager and I'm heading in that direction with my company right now. I just have to put in a little more grunt work until I get there.


What do you ladies think? Should I even bother with this interview?? Or just wait it out and see what transpires with my current company?

i wouldn't bother with the interview, unless you just want to get interview experience. sounds like things are going well at your current job, and if you took the new one you'd be looking for another in 5 months while dealing with moving, getting settled...i'd stay put for now and keep grunting!

I would stay put.  Getting a new job is stressful enough without having to deal with relocating and finding another new job in a couple months.  I would look forward to the new experiences in your current job - at least now there is light at the end of your very long retail tunnel!

I know absolutely nothing about jobs, but I would say that you should go to the interview, cause why not? You may as well leave your options open, and you could have just that much more experience interviewing.

I agree. At least go to the interview. If you wind up being offered the job and decide to decline you can always have that person as a contact.

I do think your idea to just stay put at your current job sounds good though.

I say go for it!It can't hurt.I have an interview in a couple of weeks, and I although I like the store that I'm at I'm getting dumped on as far as the pay. I just want to see what's out there because in another yr. I probably will be moving on w/ another company.
