I know Nordstrom does free alterations on their store items...but would they do free alterations on something from nordstrom rack? should i just not bring in the receipts and say i bought it from a regular nordstrom? any ideas?

They won't do free alterations on anything on sale, which I'm sure includes Nordstrom's Rack. They only alter full price items. But you could always call and find out just in case.

They'll do alternations for Nordstrom Rack things, it just won't be free.

I think the receipt is required for free alterations, and they charge for anything on sale or from the Rack.  The Nordies I've been to have price lists for alterations in the dressing rooms - IMO they're more expensive than a regular taylor, if you have one you trust I'd go there instead.
