I figure that Olive and Bette's probably dont' do that much business out of the website. They are a New York chain store like Scoop, Big Drop, and Searle... but seem to appeal to a cutesier way of dressing (more like Anthropologie).

ARGH so I got my package and I was TOTALLY psyched about getting this Cynthia Vincent 12th St dress for $150



When I opened my package only the capelet was in there! I thought... oh it's coming in another package. Inside I find a note saying that it was sold out. They couldn't have told me this over email?

Also when I got the capelet I was really disappointed. It is really bag-vintage-y looking. I feel like the buttons make it look even more like a cheap thrift store find. I am returning the capelet. I actually saw one in this style by Theory on sale at Bergdorf's for about $90, so I think I will get that instead.



Sigh, I really wanted this to work out! :(

I have heard that they also price their stuff higher than elsewhere too, that sucks, why couldn't they e-mail...sorry!

That's terrible that they didn't let you know via e-mail. I don't want to get your hopes up but I think the eBay seller styledose has that dress up for sale, or did recently? Maybe you could e-mail her?

thanks mia! i think i am actually going to wear this betsey johnson dress to this wedding instead. i think i am going to save my money for some funky resort wear that i will never wear again hehehe :)

i tried to order something from them a few years ago, and i never got it...  but they sure charged my credit card, and they never called to tell me that i wasn't going to get my item.  i have never recovered from this traumatic experience.  jerks.


they do suck.

i had a bad experiene with olive and bettes also. it bums me out because prior to this, i was always talking up the site because they usually have somewhat cute stuff. basically, i ordered something, and then found that their mark up was like almost $50 more than eeverybody else. it was like $40 to be exact, I think. So I wanted to cancel my order. the CS manager's like ok it's cancelled and you know the whole time on the phone she was really flighty and weird - i felt a little nervous because she didn't even ask me for an order number or anything. A few days later? it clears out of my account, the amount for the item! So i kept calling and leaving messages - did they know? will the boots ship? no response. Finally after I left sort of a spastic nasty one did she call back. it just sort of left a bad vibe for me, and i'd give them another shot but their mark up is too high. they're more expensive than anybody online and they're not carrying a ton that you can't get anywhere else.


when i told her this, she said it was because the prices were that in the store, so i understand but still.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH when did i order this stupid thing????????? I sent it back like Feb 1st!!! And no email, no call, NO CREDIT! no nothing.. I finally email them and say HELLO!!! I sent back this package AGES ago and there has been no word from you. Then FOUR DAYS LATER I get an email saying, "your package was received and we will refund your card." I keep checking my Amex balance online... NO REFUND! This email was sent THREE DAYS AGO!

THIS SITE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with M&M that their markup is OUT OF CONTROL. You can find everything on their site for cheaper! I thought I was getting a good deal on these items because they were on sale. WHAT A HASSLE!! NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!

Dot, omg! You have every right to be absolutely outraged! What a nightmare! You should call Amex and dispute the charge... as soon as Amex contacts them, they will refund your $$ for sure... Awful that you'd have to resort to this though. I feel your pain!!
