Signature Room in Chicago attire?

my boyfriend and i are going to the Signature Room at John Hancock in Chicago for our one year anniversary. I know its an expensive place and dressy..but for those of you who have been there, HOW dressy is it?  Im going to wear a dress but i dont know if i should tell my bf to wear a suit or if a suit would be too over-the-top.  thoughts?

I'm pretty sure he can get away with just a pair of nice slacks and shirt. Ok actually just went and called them. Upscale business casual, no jeans or tennis shoes jackets and ties are optional!
