I can not get away from the food network. I am addicted. It is all I watch except during amazing race and the apprentice. It has stirred up my inner desire to cook and be creative through cooking. I have never experienced this!
The funny thing is that I have gotten my brother addicted and my mom is getting worried about us. She's like you do realize there is more than one channel on the tv.
aren't you dieting, lsu? i get obsessed with cookbooks when i am dieting.
my baby brother, who is the pickiest eater i have ever met, used to sit down and watch hours of food network when he got home from school (like normal kids sit down to watch cartoons). there's something so fascinating about watching people whip up these fantastic things!
yeah i'm dieting but what started it was the italy special they had on a few weekends ago were all the shows centered around italy which is where I want to go so the bf and I sat down and watched the entire thing. So now I'm hooked.
I've actually found some really interesting and good recipes that can be made low fat/weight watchers so it helps me avoid too much grilled chicken. I think that is what it really is deep down. I'm tired of only eating grilled chicken or turkey burgers and the shows are full of recipes that are still chicken but in a different way.
OMG---me too!!! i watch it every saturday morning (religiously) while i'm cleaning/eating breakfast for the 'in the kitchen' shows.. i'm definitely hooked.. and have also gotten my little sister addicted.. it's so funny!
my favorites are giada de laurentis and ina garten.. i love them. but rachael ray really gets on my nerves :)
My BF and I watch food network like most people watch prime-time dramas. We are totally addicted. I Food Network. I'm always feeling more creative after watching the shows. We just watched Iron Chef America where they made catfish and now I'm feeling very creative about the catfish sitting in our freezer. I still prefer the original Iron Chef...more dramatic.
I think BF's bro thinks we're nuts, but we love cooking and it keeps up from eating out.

Haha... this is too funny... I've been a fan of the Food Network since the begining or the channel and am so addicted that I almost sent in a sample tape for the become a chef audition...
My bf always jokes about it, because whenever he turns on the TV it's alwasy on channel 50
OMG I was watching that Iron Chef and couldn't handle the first part where they killed the little fishes. It was too upsetting but I enjoyed watching them cook. The only thing about that show is that they make recipes I'd never want to try out which sucks. I guess that's not the point of the show.
It's food porn. You can't eat what you'd like to when your dieting so watching Food network is like a fantasy.
I love Ina Garten, Mario Batali and Good Eats with Alton Brown. But I cant stand Racheal Ray, she makes me want to gouge my eyes out with my thumbs. Why is everything "awesome"?
haha brazen. I like that food porn analogy. It is almost like watching food porn. I do have to admit I made pizza this weekend and instead of using cajun seasoning I used basil, parsley, and oregano and it tasted so good so I'm learning some things from watching it.
I went to this Food Network event once, and I got pretty much all my cookbooks autographed: Tyler Florence (he's a cutie!), Sarah Moulton, Ina Garten and Alton Brown... I'm such a chef groupie!
I'm not addicted to FN, but enjoy some shows. I LOVE "Best of..." & "$40 a Day". Just caught Al Roker's Diner segment & the Navy Challenge & am enjoyed them. Very different from 10 years ago when there were few shows on & Emeril wasn't as popular.
Did anybody see $40 a Day w/ Rachael Ray Martha's Vineyard? She did it a couple of weeks ago. That's where I live!! I think there are some other pretty great restaurants on the island she could have picked.
Also - what ever happened to the Jaimie Oliver Show - the Naked Chef or Oliver's Twist? He's not on anymore - I wonder why?
Welcome to my world! Well, at least for the past several weeks.... I have also been addicted for the past month or so, and I religiously watch it every weekend, when cleaning or just hanging out in the morning. I really like "Calorie Commando", but I'll watch almost anything. I really liked how in the first week of January, ALL the shows showed how to prepare healthy meals. I wish they did that more...

I like calorie commando but I just feel that juan carlos lacks in the personablity aspect. He just seems so stiff with his guests. I just printed out the "fried" mozzarella balls that he had on the show a few weeks ago to try out. I'll let you know what I think.
I usually just look at the recipes of the dishes I really like and find ways to lighten them up. I mean some of those dishes are 8-12 servings and only me and my bf would even eat it so I cut all the ingredients down to half or a quarter and that helps some. Also while they say use 1 stick butter or whole milk you really dont' have to so that's how I do it.

i love the food network. although a lot of times i watch it and it makes me really really hungry. my faves are rachael ray (she is really annoying by the way i watch her show 30 minute meals only and usually with the sound really low. her extra !perky! attitude is grating. but her 30 minute meals are AMAZING some of my best recipies have come from that show.) alton brown good eats (weird guy but i really learn some great things from him) giada de laurentis (great cook but has anyone noticed how LARGE her head is? yikes!! it is huge) sandra lee with semi-homemade, paula's home cooking (soooo fattening but soooo good)
i'll still watch emeril live but i don't really make any of his recipies. i like his personality. another great chef is jamie oliver but his show doesn't really come on any more. i've made a bunch of his recipies so fatty but sooo good.
I love giada but haven't made any of her recipes. I want to make the farmer's pasta recipe this week so I'll post my review of it. I made a recipe from Emeril's show and it was really good. I'll post it up in a bit.

I miss him!!!!! I wish I knew what happened but he was yummy (and I never have crushes on celebs/tv personalities/etc.)!
