If the government is processing US passports within four weeks, is it worth paying the $60 expedited fee. I need my passport no later than by October.

If you turn in your application this week, you should get it on time. My whole family got their passport in shorter the amount of time it said it would take. I think you should just plan on four weeks to be safe. I wouldn't pay the extra $60 if you need it in two months.

I wouldn't. I applied for my passport in late april and I needed it for mid June. When I was turning it in, the lady said that there was no way I needed to rush it. And if you can believe it, I got it within a WEEK!

I wouldn't. I had mine within 7 business days when i applied in February. I hear things are just as quick now as it was then.
