this makes me kind of upset--i saw it somewhere else online this week, too. she's a woman who has had a really rough life (i'm not saying she hasn't brought some of it on herself, but come on), and seems to be taking rehab really seriously so she can get her act together and regain custody of her daughter. when your system is used to ingesting foreign substances (like drugs, nicotine, etc.), the normal reaction to stopping habitual use is always weight gain. i think her weight gain a great sign that she is taking care of herself and getting healthier. the poor woman can't win--people get disgusted at her wild/crazy behavior when she is on drugs, so she cleans up and then they make fun of her for putting on weight. no one made fun of robert downey jr. and matthew perry when they got chubby after kicking. so i say, viva la courtney! i, for one, am really glad to see her looking this way.
Word, bumblebee and Farrah - isn't chunking up pretty much par for the course in rehab? Good for her if she's kicked her habit and is ready to be a good mother to her daughter. I'm sure Frances doesn't mind a chubby mom as long as she's around, and clean.

Someone posted this item from defamer.com on another message board:
While stuck in major traffic on the 10 highway Saturday night, I happened to catch an exchange between Dave Navarro and Courtney Love on Indie 103.1fm where they talked about Courtney’s recent weight gain. Courtney called in, and the conversation went something like this:
Courtney: So when’s the fat thing going to end? Dave: When you stop eating. Courtney: I’ve never been this fat in my life. Dave: You need to stop eating. Courtney: Did this happen to you when you got clean? Dave: Yeah, but you need to exercise. Or stop eating. Courtney: (joking) It makes me want a Valium. Dave: NOooo.
(more talking… conversation switches to getting free Gibson guitars)
Dave: Courtney, I have a hard time believing you have to pay for anything. What do you buy yourself that you aren’t given free? Courtney: Well, I’m paying for all the food I’ve been eating. Dave: Yes. Yes you are. (rim shot)
After this exchange, you couldn’t help but to like Courtney a little more. She took being the brunt of jokes with, dare I say, grace. You also have to give the woman points for continuing to be as entertaining even though she is now sober.
I hate her shirt, but other than that I don't think she looks so bad. She's definitely been that size before. Eh, I have a soft spot for Courtney.
I am glad she's finally cleaned herself up and I hope she stays clean too, I give her so much credit for getting a handle on her addiction. I am sure she'll conquer her weight battle as well, she seems like a very determined woman.
