The best luck I have had for work pants is at JCPenney. I know I can't believe I'm admitting to this but I get the Worthington suit pants. What's nice is they come in three different lengths and are wide-leg with a cuff. The only thing is that they are not lined. I'm in the same boat as you wide hips and little waist. I also have to add short to the mix.

I also have wide hips, small waist, short legs and also have to add some thighs into that equation. I also have a few pairs of the Worthington (petites) work pants - not only do they fit in the waist/hips/thighs, they have a really shape to the leg and I didn't even have to hem them!

As for jeans, I wear Jordache. All their styles in both stretch and non-stretch fit me perfectly in the waist/hip area, as well as through the thighs.

This is my first post. I have been lurking for awhile. This website is so helpful. Ok, since two of you fessed up to shopping at JCPenney, I confess I get my pants at.....Sears!! I love the Apostrophe pants and the style I get is Vanessa. These are the most awesome pants. Although I am average height, I get the longs because they go to the bottom of my heels and look sooo elegant. They are not lined, either, but that doesn't matter to me really. They come in several colors and really fit my butt well. They are the tiniest bit large in the waist, but not so much that a belt doesn't help. Meow, I have about your same measurements. I hope this helps. I would love to buy some of the Theory pants, but I just simply cannot drop $200 on pants. More power to those of you who do!!!!

1. I HATE THEORY! If you have a small waist and large hips...don't even bother. Theory pants fit very much like Express Editors on me, passable, but not worth the price.

I've had luck at the Limited (I think it's the Drew fit, but it may be the Cassidy), and if you want a high end pant that works great, I have glowing recommendations for Chaiken. I have asmall waist and big hips and Chaiken drapes over them perfectly. I also have vintage Paul and Joe pants that are also really really amazing.

I have the opposite problem (a lot of pants gap at the hips or are too small in the waist), and I can tell you that Gap and NY&Co do not work on me. My stepmom is very hourglass-shaped and she swears by Express Publicists.

A question about the JCPenney, Limited, and Sears pants. How is the rise? Do they come above the waist, to the waist, or below. If below, how far? Thanks everyone so much for your help. Please continue posting your favorites. I am so discouraged when I try on pants that I may go try on every pair that is suggested.

The Sears pants come to my bellybutton so I guess that is what--maybe an inch or two below the waist.

Mine come almost to my belly button - they have a side zip so they're nice and smooth across the tummy.

i am built more like halleybird. i love pants from club monaco, they seem to always fit really well, and the martin fit from banana republic (NOT the harrison, which is possibly the very worst fit of any pant in existence on me). express editors also do not work for me, and theory rarely does. i do like chaiken very much.

I love my Victoria's Secret Christie Fit pants! Also love that they come in a short length b/c I, also, am short and sick of having to hem all my pants!

i love alvin valley pants (i posted on them in the fashion section). they are amazing and worth every penny.

they tend to be more fitted in the waist (which normally doesn't work for me, but these pants do) and make your booty look awesome.

I have the same problem. It can be so frustrating.I find that dollhouse jeans fit me allmost perfect. Just a touch big in the waist.

I will have to check out the Martin fit pants, but they are so expensive. However, I am getting to the point where if I can just find some to fit, I don't care if they are expensive. Thanks everyone. I will be trying the pants on you suggested.

I usually buy off the sales rack. Two weeks ago I got a pair of grey and white pinstriped fully lined martins orig price $148 my price $51.99. I have found similar sales too. I am such BR whore.

I also have a lot of trouble finding a great fit in pants. I like my COH jeans but I'd love them if they were a little longer. For some reason Abercrombie jeans/pants fit me well. I have a pair of black dress Bebe pants that I've had a few years and I love the fit. They are the perfect length for wearing heels and they fit my waist, butt, and thights really well. Express editors are just ok IMO.

Hey Meow. I have a simular problem. Larger hips/rear, smaller waist. 90% of my dress pants are Gap Modern Fit. I have these and they fit great. They sit lower on my waist then on the models.

I plan on getting these soon:

In about 2 or 3 colors!

rar210, I have a pair of the Gap Modern Fit pants in that light green velvet that they had awhile back (not online anymore). They fit perfectly so I got really excited thinking I had found my perfect pants. However, every pair of modern fits I have tried on since then have fit in the hips but are too big in the waist (my usual problem). I was so discouraged.
