I know a lot of people love their style, and I don't hate it, but to be honest I've never liked their style *on them*. They are so tiny they often look kind of lost in their boho/baggy outfits. Kate Moss can pull that off because she's tall-ish, but the Olsen's usually look like little kids who just raided their mom's closet to me. Sometimes I think they look OK but I generally don't think they work well with their physiques. It would be hard being that size - difficult to look 'grown up' sometimes.

Ditto to mia... poor things, they just look like they're playing dressup. They need to stop with the big glasses, because they look absurd. The aviators are very unflattering on their small faces. It's like when I put my glasses on my 2 year old nephew. I feel sort of bad, because they can't help their size, but they can help what they wear - we all have to work with what the gods gave us. That said, when they are wearing things that fit them and they comb their hair, they can be pretty (like the photos where they are wearing dresses). But their casual look needs work. Maybe if their bags weren't half their size.

Oh, ok.... I also can't get past that they remind me of troll dolls. I just can't.

But we scandinavians love trolls, so don't get me wrong.

I just think that they need to work more with their little figures - they could play up their petite frames in a much more flattering way. But you have to give them credit for the fact that they have a clear appreciation for clothes... and it's nice to see young women having fun with fashion, not flashing as much skin as possible .

I was just going to post the same thing.  Great clothes, but they often look completely lost in the clothes.

In my mind M-K and Ashley can do no wrong.  I'm completely obsessed, especially with M-K.  I'll buy any magazine with her in it.  I have a whole collection of pictures of them on my computer...

I like that they dress how they want.  They have fun with clothes and are hot in totally their own way.  M-K works the bag lady look.  They've never presented themselves as "sexy," nor whored themselves out *ahem*LINDSAY LOHAN*ahem*, but are still soooo hot.  I would sell my soul to be half as cool as M-K.  She's so bad ass.

I gotta admit that the twins are some of my fashion icons and a lot of my casual wear gets based on items they put together in their casual wear.

I used to love both twins' style, but anymore, I favor Ashley. Mary-Kate's stuff has just gotten weird, and like you all said, her clothes are about 5x too big for her. Ashley seems to have clothing that fits a little better. I only like individual pieces of Mary-Kate's, but not her overall style. I actually like the big sunglasses though (although I guess, once again, only on Ashley do they seem to "fit" better)

Ashley's gotta stop with the ear-flap hat though!

Here's a fun picture of Mary-Kate in an outfit that looks like it's going to smother her:

Maddie, I love the pics that you posted! The style choices in those shots are great!

Also, I think their makeup looks are some of the best in hollywood.

I agree, I love their makeup.  Except that last one where M-K has the bright magenta-y lipstick.  I love everything about them.  I'm actually planing a trip to NYC to try to see them.  My friend has the same dealer as them and my friend's friend has hung out with them before (she's in Gallatin with them).  It took a long time to amass those pictures though.  I Google image them often and always search Getty for them.

Maddie, you and I are similar in this subject! I have a site I go to a couple times a day, just to check for new paparazzi photos of them, just to see what they are wearing.

I LOVE the sweater MK is wearing in the Snoop Dog photo...And I'm still obsessively trying to find the shoes she's wearing in this picture (or at least something very similar!):

While I think that they have a great (if unique and not for everyone) style, I do think their clothes often "swarm" them. Honestly, I wish someone would just FEED THEM. I know it's not the most PC thing to say, but teenage girls everywhere look up to them and their style (they have definitely set themselves up as role models) and they're just not projecting a healthy image. It's one thing to be "petite" but it's another thing entirely to be emaciated.

Sorry for the diatribe, but I just think someone needed to say it.

Oooh I hate that google-eyed look the blonde one always has. The skinny brunette one is the prettiest/most interesting, imo.

Do you just admire them for their style Maddie? And when you said "dealer" did you mean dealer-dealer? I thought it was so funny when they tried to act as if that little rehab stint was for an eating disorder and not for being a cokehead. It's a bit sad, though...she's/they're so young.

I agree with you.  You guys are going to think I'm the hugest freak ever, but I own this shirt...

But first of all, they have always been petite.  Although if you look at pics of them from a few years ago, they're much more filled out.  These are all from 2002...

They look petite, but not emaciated as you said.  However, I feel bad for them.  I think they have serious problems, and especially from what I read about M-K it sounds like she has control issues, which is exactly what anorexia is about.  I really don't think they've led easy lives.  And all the coke doesn't hurt for weight loss.

I agree that M-K (the brunette) is better, she's got more star power.  I hear she's nicer too, but I think it's because of her issues and she wants everyone to like her.  And I mean dealer-dealer.  And my friend's friend who hung out with them...by hung out I mean got blown.  I don't think rehab had a huge impact on her.  I feel bad for them.

ETA...I do admire their style.  I completely understand why people don't, they do often look like they're drowning.  But I think they work it, I like that they just don't care if it's unflattering.  I don't dress like that though.  I try to layer jewelry and stuff, not wear hugely oversized clothes.

What is with this pic? She's wearing a blanket and flip flops. Is it cold outiside or not? If so, put some shoes on! I hate when people wear flip flops in the winter. I've seen it a lot actually.

It's incredibly sad b/c she's so young.   I think their style works for them, but they've got to size down a few--they're drowning in their clothing.

ehh, they're style does nothing for me. i don't hate it, but i really don't think it's that original or flattering (mainly the casual looks, they look nice dressed up). and while i can overlook lack of originality, i can't get passed dressing in a fashion that doesn't suit your body.

I really don't think of these young as having a lot of style. I think of them as just having a lot of clothes. The most notable thing about these girls is that I never see them smile. They don't look happy in what they're wearing, not to mention the fact that nothing fits them. I worry what their image says to girls who are impressionable and admire them because in all honesty they don't look well.

I LOVE anyone who dresses different or off-beat.  These girls are awesome.  Maddie, anytime you want to go to NYU to stalk them, I'm right there with you!
