Which Marc Jacobs bag?
Permalink Closed

I'm finally thinking about getting my first Marc Jacobs bag as a birthday gift to myself..

but I'm a little torn. I sort of like each one of these for different reasons..

I need a black everyday bag..

So these would all be in black

Also, I prefer larger size purses that fit under arm..I don't know too much about these bags (aside from the fact that I think they are lovely) so I any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

1) Multi pocket

2) Venetia

3) Blake

4) Stella

i'm torn between multi venetia and stella. i think that they are more pratical for everyday and i feel like would be more comfortable than the reg. venetia. these bags weigh alot.. i mean not a ton, but the hardware is heavy as is the leather they are made from... so, if you're like me, who fills their bag with god knows what, it will end up weighing a ton. i bet the straps on the stella would be more comfortable (since they are wider). jmr has one i think.. you should ask her about her's.

also i've seen alot of stellas out there and they seem to age well... i guess i like multi and stella but i'm leaning more towards stella.

ps i guess i'm not into blake that much because i don't think it's big enough for documents or big papers... but i don't know if that's an issue for you.

pps i just also wanted to say i'm jealous!

I like the Multi pocket and the Stella.  The Stella is really big though (it is more of a tote) so I would suggest a Sophia.  FYI, the handles on the Venetia are not long enough to put on your shoulder so if you really like that look I say go  for the Blake.  HTH!!

I personally don't like carryig things that are extremely identifiable as a certain brand, which is why I voted for the Blake. I think the others are, although beautiful, too imitated.

such a hard call as they really are all lovely.  depends on the vibe you're going for--for ex. i think the blake gives off more of a serious/professional air, if that's something you're looking for.  but if you carry a lot of stuff around, you really can't go wrong w/ the stella.  also, for over the shoulder purposes, the multi-pocket and the stella are probably your best bet and i definitely second the observation that these bags are *heavy* so you may definitely want the over the shoulder options.  hth and let us know which one you pick!

i voted for the multi (mainly because i have one and i love it!). i really like the blake too, but over the shoulder bags that have two straps don't work out so well for me... one strap always annoyingly slides off my shoulder.

oh my... they are all lovely. you really can't go wrong.

Okay since I'm obsessed with his bags and have starved for months to buy them, I have to offer my two cents. The first bag I bought is the Venetia. I love the bag and it's aging really well. But, you should know two things. It won't fit under your shoulder comfortably. And second, as someone already mentioned, the sucker is heavy. The bag is big, which means you'll load it up, which means it'll get even heavier. I love mine but I only pull it out for specific occasions.
I also have the multi and I have to say I love that bag. To me it's a less stuctured, slouchy everyday bag. I have it in black and I take it everywhere.
For the longest time I was obsessed with the Stella. Until I saw it in person. It's enormous. I'm 5'7" and it's still enormous.
My current obsession is the Blake, but for some reason I think of it as a real ladylike purse. Something a really cool grandmother would carry (in a good way). Which is why I think it should be bought in a crazy color instead of black. I'm starving right now for the Blake in pink. Also, should say that while the bag fits comfortably under the shoulder it's a bit bulky and heavy. Not as bad as the Venetia, but bulky.
Anyway, sorry for the long exposition. I love purses, especially his, so I had to say something.
Also, I don't know if money is an issue, but order out of state so you don't have to pay tax. That's what I do in CA and it adds up.

I lug a ton of stuff around in my bags, so I would go with Stella. Even though I'm short (5' 2.5"). I just saw a girl with a gorgeous pomegranate Stella she was using as a schoolbag (and another one with the hottest black Balenciaga moto bag ever...how did I end up going to school with these people?)

I like the Quinn, but FYI it is REALLY small.  All of the other bags that you posted were pretty roomy.

Farrah I looked a the dimensions and compared it to my other bags..

it appeared mid size maybe about the size of your anouk..

is that wrong?

I decided against the bigger bags because everyone said they are soo heavy..:(

It is actually smaller than the Anouk.  I can fit my wallet, sunglasses case, checkbook and a small pouch in my Anouk and the Quinn would only fit my wallet and sunglass case.  It is more along the size of the Cammie.  I know because I had an opportunity to buy one in bisque last year at Nordies and the price was a steal, but I decided against it because of the size.  It's too bad though, it was such a gorgeous color.

I voted for the first one only because having two straps bothers me.  Otherwise, I think the third one looks the best.

I love the Blake!

Also, the multipocket really bothers me every time I see it. Problem is, I don't know why. Anyone else have this problem or should I check myself into fashion rehab?

Halleybird, I have the same prob. with the multipocket. Its just not as perfectly proportioned as the others- something about that top part is weird! I love the Blake too.
