Dry skin. Help!
Permalink Closed

Okay, this will sound kinda gross. My legs are really dry. I've been putting lotion on in the morning and night. I've been using Aveeno, but there always so dry and looking kinda a scaly (yuck!). Anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks....

I keep my dry skin under control by exfoliating every day( use a washcloth) and then follow with either baby oil gel or shea butter(I use The Body Shop) while my skin is still damp let it absorb and touch up my dry spots with more shea butter.  Hope that helps!

Hi! I have this Olive oil skin mask from B&B Works, and I love it for my face (I have REALLY dry skin). I haven't tried this, but I wonder if a dry skin face mask could be used elsewhere? I know the skin on your body is diff. from the face, but I don't see how it could hurt. I also use a body oil from Neutrogena all over after a shower. You have to wipe it off before you dress, but if I shower at night, I smother myself in it and put on my pjs w/o wiping it off. Nivea makes a really good nighttime body lotion; slather that on your legs at night, and they wont be so dry in the am. Also, drink a lot of H2O, and try not to shower for long periods of time. Maybe get a humidifier for your bedroom.

This is kinda gross, but if you put vasoline on your legs at night and wear pants to sleep in (the vasoline is MESSY), when you wake up in the morning your legs will be amazing - I promise.  And you only need to do this ~ once a week or so.  You can also use this cream called "Aquaphor" by Eucerin which is found in a drug store, but I think it is the same thing as vasoline and much much more expensive.

This is also really great to do with dry feet (vasoline and wear socks to bed).

It is messy, but it honestly works wonders!

OMG! I forgot about vasoline! I used to do it all the time when I was younger! I have tried it with this Burt's Bees stuff (similar to vasoline), but it doesn't work as well. It is pretty nasty, but I guess it's better than scaly, flaky skin.

For severly dry skin, nothing works like Triceram. It's kinda pricey, but it lasts a long time, and is gentle enough to use on your face (I do in the winter). With a little exfoliation in the shower and some of this cream 1-2x a day, you should be set in a matter of days. My sister begged me for some after a facial peel, and by the next day she looked normal.
