Chicago girls-restaurant rec. for the bf!!
Permalink Closed

All Chicago girls...my boyfriends birthday is on july 15th (very soon!) and i need a rec. on where to take him. We live in the suburbs but i wanted to take him to the city to a new restaurant that's "different" and has great food. For example, last year i took him to the melting pot bc we've never been there and we had a great time. Where else can i go that has a great atmosphere, and great food? FYI: We are 23, so i wouldn't spend more than $100 on dinner for the both of us. Thanks everyone!

I think a tapas place would be a great experience for you two. Great food, small plates so you can try a few different dishes, yummy sangria and affordable prices. I think you could easily eat and drink sangria to your heart's content for under $100. Cafe Ba Ba Reeba is my favorite.

Sushi is another affordable option. I like tspot (but I am also a HUGE tea fan) for its chill, comfy atmosphere, and Kamehachi because it's old school.
I also like Tizi Melloul's mediterranean fare and the colorful cushions and decor make for a good ambiance. Entrees are ~20-25 so depending on what you eat & drink you could stay within budget.
There's a place on Division that just opened that I'm planning to try in a couple of weeks. It's called manamania & they offer a combination of mediterranean, asian and middle eastern flavors in small and large plates for sharing. Seems promising and definitely different.

hth!
