Me and my mom were discussing this and thought maybe he was really drunk or really high? I mean I think I would know if a nail was stuck in my head! LOL

I read a news item about that and it said that apparently it happens a few times a year - dude shoots himself with a nail gun (it's usually an accident), it doesn't hit anything vital, and he doesn't realize there's a nail in his skull.
