STYLETHREAD -- LET'S TALK SHOP!

Thanks for asking.  We went down Friday and stayed at the Crown Astor and it was really nice.  The only hotel so far decorated for Mardi Gras so I got a kick out of it (MG starts this weekend).  We ended up going to Bravo's Italian Restaurant (its a chain but its good) for dinner and then went back to the hotel and walked down the street to the theatre. 

The play was awesome.  It is actually based on the movie and not the other way around.  There was more singing than dialogue but it was very enjoyable and made it more of a musical.  Part of the thing is that they are selling orphans on the black market to be slaves/prostitutes in Asia so they had these 2 Asian guys in the play and had them speaking Chinese and did subtitles which really made the show.  They even did singing and dancing with the subtitles.

We ended up just walking around the touristy spots on Saturday cause I get a kick out (I'm from BR -1 hour north of NO and didn't start going down there till College & he grew up down there so I always make him do touristy stuff with me) of that and I found some boutiques to add to the shopping guide.  It was so hard to walk out of them though without buying anything since I'm on the shopping freeze. But we had a lot of fun.  I just wished I would have remembered the dessert restaurant I wanted to go to but I forgot about it.  I'll have to remember for next time we are down.
