I'm heading to my stepfather's home town in FL to attend his wedding to a much younger but very sweet lady.  It will be full of akward moments I'm sure but I do love my stepfather and want to see him happy!

We are cooking out for lunch and then everyone is going to leave my house and go to the fireworks together in downtown Houston.

It should be pretty hilarious this year.  Both of my husband's sister's are dating super-yup's from the city.  I PLEADED with my FIL to get a port-a-potty as a joke, I even told him I would pay for it.  Le Sigh - he wouldn't go for it.

omg--you are SO my kind of girl.  PLEASE do the portapotty.

Staycation...I've been hearing that word a lot lately. Anyway, I will be having one of those too. As for the actual 4th, going to a pool party/BBQ at a friend's house.

I know! Posers. I've been having staycations for years. Now it's totally the "in" thing to do. Pshaw.

And in keeping with my grand tradition of doing abso-freakin-lutely nothing on major holidays and/or traveling seasons, I'll be sleeping in my bed during daylight hours, drinking wine during nighttime hours, and possibly karaoking only to songs with some tie to the grand, old US of A, i.e. What's Going On by Marvin Gaye, Born in the USA by the Boss, my personal version of What's Up by 4 Non Blondes (an ode to Bush, circa 2004), and, of course, Lump by the Presidents of the United States of America. biggrin.gif

Is this in Kansas because my uncle has this type of party each year... except it is a chicken fry, not animal roasting.

Anyway, I am avoiding taking my super-yup boyfriend to that and not attending for the first time in 10 years.  Instead, we are going to hang out on the beach in Coronado and watch the fireworks on the Bay.

Add me to the list. My staycation has officially started. DH started his early. He's been off since Friday. I came home from work today and he had never even got dressed lol. Ahh that's what I plan to do tomorrow....absolutely nothing biggrin

I'm having friends over tonight to see the new house (yay it's finished and I moved in last weekend!) and cookout. Not sure what we will do on the actual 4th. On Saturday I'm headed to a big cookout/party complete with fireworks at a friend's house.

My folks live less than 2 hours away and want me to come home, but I'm spending the weekend with friends and enjoying my own place.

Friday I'm hiking with some friends to see fireworks (we're hoping to see 4-5 different displays) and Saturday I'm attending a "5th of July" picnic. I think I'm making cobbler which  I'm excited about.

I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow .... I went on a 10 mile bike ride on the C&O canal for the first time ever and it was amazing and exhausting.
