altering jeans at the waist
Permalink Closed

Has anyone had their jeans altered at the waist?  My COH Ingrids are a little loose at the waist, but fit well everywhere else.  Well, they're a little loose in the rear, also...but I think bringing in the waist would help with that because they'd sit a little higher.  I'm just scared of making them look strange.  Anyone done this before?

I haven't but there should be a seam hiding somewhere that the tailor can probably just pinch and take in.

I do this pretty often w/ bottoms, including jeans.  Big butt and small waist means a lot of alterations.  I haven't had a problem w/ my jeans looking funny afterwards.  In fact, I sometimes think they look funny if I don't have the waist taken in because it is really obvious that I've got an extra inch or two of fabric around the waist.

I would recommend taking them to a trusted tailor.

I am the same as Luckylily.  Once I broke the seal, I started bringing in anything and everything for tailoring; nothing feels better than a couture fit.

I have pretty much all of my pants and jeans taken in at the waist.  Depending on how much is needed to be taken in, they either just take in the waist, or open up the back seem and take some in there too.  It costs me $10 - $20 these days, depending on how involved they get.  I use my drycleaner.   I used a professional tailor once, and they started at $40+ for tailoring, so I never went back.
