Still Struggling to find a dress *Update*
Permalink Closed

I cannot find a dress for the life of me in my stupid town to wear this Friday.

I have spent the past 2 weekends at the mall and haven't had any luck. Its either trashy junior clothing (too trashy for me) or overly priced ladies dresses that aren't really cute. Or $300 BCBG dresses which are completely out of my price range.

I bought this one:
Nordstroms $48

Silver strappy shoes ok? (trying to be good and save money otherwise I'll go to the discount stores and look for black strappy shoes).

I really like the norstrom dress - much more sophisticated and current/timeless and you can easily accessorize it. The other one looks too last year trendy and I'm not loving the print.

Ok so its a junior size. What size should I get? I'm a 6-8 in most clothes. Junior Large?

it looks like a clingy knit - you might be safest with the large - but it wouldn't be as flattering if the medium fit you well... is there anyway you could order both medium and large and return one?

Detroit - I think I'll order both and just see how it goes. Its just so frustrating living in this crappy place! Can't find anything here!

we need to work on that, lsu - we need to track down the coolest boutiques in your area for the city guides and try to get a discount for thread heads! (just thought of that - sounds kinda funny)

thanks but unfortunately my town is pretty blah when it comes to fashion and the Dillards in my area has now tried to increase their status to saks or neiman marcus and have outpriced themselves for most of the town (even those with disposable income won't shop there). Its so frustrating. Plus I've noticed there isn't any inbetween in the stores. Its either juniors or older women's clothing. Nothing for college aged students.

I am going to work on a shopping guide for the New Orleans area since they have better shopping and some reasonable pricing there. Maybe I will find some cool places while I'm at it.

Thanks for trying to keep me fashionable Detroit and Karina - its so hard when you shop on the internet!

Definitely go with the purple dress....I also think you will have to order both sizes to see which one fits you the best....I like the dress...great color and it can also be worn dressy or more casual depending on the shoes and accessories...great pick

I got the purple dress. Do you think strappy silver shoes are ok or should I start searching for black shoes? I already have silver but if you think black I can go run by TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Ross after work. (I'm trying to be good and save $$ but this is a special occassion plus it'll work for a wedding in march)

I'm glad you picked the Nordstrom dress.  It is really cute and I think it'll be really versatile too, you should be able to wear it a bunch.

I think silver shoes would probably be fine.

i love the dress you picked and think silver shoes would "pop" more (for lack of a better word) than black.  plus you won't have to buy new ones!!

I think silver shoes would look great (after all that's what is in the picture). Also, I think a brooch pinned to the v of the neck would look good and some fun earrings.

lsu, that is a great dress.  I think silver shoes would look great.  You have so many options when it comes to accessories for this dress.  As fashionprincess said a brooch would look great.  You could also add a fur wrap.  Is it this weekend you and your boyfriend are coming to NOLA b/c it is suppose to be freezing.  At least that is what the weather people are saying.  If it is this weekend and it is cold I would suggest you guys take a cab from your hotel to the Sanger and after the show do the same.  Best wishes for a good time!

Yeah this is for Friday. It so sucks because its been in the 70s for the past 2 weeks and now all the sudden its going to be cold! WTF??? I think we are driving to dinner and then trollying it to the Saenger.

The reason I was asking about silver is because i thought the shoes in the pic were silver also but they are really gold. But I think silver will work.

Now I just gotta figure out how to accessorize. I don't have anything. I think that will be what I will work on this year: accessories. I seriously lack in that department.
