I need new work clothes...
Permalink Closed

Ok so today I had a cute outfit on today, cashmere sweater, skirt and some rounded toe heels....well then my job got in the way. I had to load boxes up and carry them all around the building and I was worried about getting dirty and then my feet started hurting, before I almost got my heel caught in the grates outside. I also am constantly getting up and bending down to pick up things and there are 5 desks all together so I am not alone. I work in a small store, inside another work building, so there are other people walking in all day, causing the getting up from the desk and more. I have a cute outfit that would suit these type of days, Old Navy pants, tee shirt or polo then a cotton cable knit sweater and some flats. My concerns are getting dirty, showing skin because my shirt and pants fit fine while standing, but then I sit down. Well I am in a rut and I feel like I wear that outfit everyday... I need some cute new outfits that can get dirty and the pants aren't too low so I am not having to fix myself all the time, no skin should ever pop out where I work. Any ideas? TIA!

I wear Old Navy at-waist pants for work sometimes and they never show any skin. And they fit pretty well, too.

My work wardrobe consists of pants (I hardly ever wear skirts - too much work in the morning), some kind of shirt (maybe a silky cami-type or a fun funky print sleeveless) and a cardi or a blazer over it. You can pretty much bet on my work outfits, as far as type of clothing I'll be wearing. I have a few button downs I throw in there and some turtlenecks to spice it up a bit but it's pretty simple. If I'm going out after word, I go for a silk cami and blazer. If I'm going to the gym, I go cardi and banana t-shirt underneath. If it's meeting day, I throw on a suit jacket over a banana tee or a button-down.

Those are my basics and I mix it up with beaded cardis, cashmere cardis, velvet blazers, cord blazers, tweeds, etc. I always get compliments on my outfits and they really are the simplest things to put together. Almost everything in my closet goes with everything else, since everything involves layers. Oh, and don't forget colorful shoes to spice it up a bit!

HTH!

Are jeans allowed in your office?

Have you thought about wearing circle or a-line skirts. I would think the excess material wouldn't restrict you when you move around and the longer lengths aren't indecent when you bend over. I think with flats and a twinset or cute top you could be cute and comfortable.

I found some cute ones... all under $50 so you wouldn't have to worry about ruining them because they are all pretty cheap.

I really need clothes that are easy to move around in, I love button downs but I get all wrinkly. Circle skirts are my favorite for the spring and summer, but right now I need some heel height b/c I think I look frumpy in them with skirts. I can only wear jeans on Fridays and those days I usually wear a blazer or something b/c I also only work till 12pm that day, those days are my fav!. I tend to stay away from button downs or blazers because they are more constricting and when we get 20 boxes in that is no fun for me. Maybe I need some new accessory suggestions or different looking sweaters and pants...any ideas? I think they may fire me if I wear another cable knit sweater... Thank you so much for all your suggestions...oh I have to watch out about the flash in the front factor also...I am the baby where I work so they are more uptight.
