I didn't know where else to put this, so I thought I'd put it here. I found out Sunday I'm going to be going on my second missions trip. It in Central America for a month. I'm so excited! My last trip had a huge impact on my life. I was just wondering, has anyone else here done missions work?
Good for you! I personally haven't but I have a friend who went to Brazil w/ her husband to help build playgrounds for an orphanage there. Where will you go??
I'll be in Guatemala for a while, then in El Salvador, and over to Honduras. I'll be in some of the poorest regions, but it's definatly worth it. It's a building trip for the schools.
i haven't done any missions work, but have traveled in those countries. it's a different world and any work you do there is sure to be extremely appreciated and gratifying.
you are lucky that you will be able to see the "real" central america -- how people really live off the tourist track. let us know how it went when you get back.
Thanks for the feedback! E_doli, the people there are so appriciative of anything. You're always getting hugs for the littlest things. I'm very excited that I get to go again. I'll definatly post when I get back.
It is people like you that make this world a better place!!! How long will you be on the mission? I am very interested in knowing all about it and how to get involved.

Thank you! I'll be there a month. I got involved through my church. My pastor and his wife have been on over 60 missions trips all around the world and really wanted to get the church involved. So the next thing we knew they had booked about 20 of us (16-25 yrs) to go to Central America. It was really tough, but very worth it. We're going again this May. How you can get involved is so easy. I'm in an Assembly of God church, so we're going through the AG World Missions. Since we're on a tight budget we only let members of the church get involved, but I'm sure some churches will let anyone willing participate. To find out more about MAPS and AGWM trips, you can go to http://worldmissions.ag.org/. If you really want to go, I'm sure there will be a way. Thanks for your intrest. I'll post more when the trip gets nearer.
jackieo527, try searching peace works international, i did something w/ them when i graduated w/ highschool and it sounds very similar except non-religion based (although i wish my church did this, i'd like to do it again). we were there about 3 weeks & helped add on to a school. we lived w/ families and it was a lot of fun and a lot of work... this was in costa rica, btw.
Actually I'm planning on going on a mission trip to Taiwan this summer to teach English to Taiwanese Natives. They're like American Indians, their land was taken from them and they suffered alot of persecution. (English speakers) Teaching them English will give them advantage over others, since speaking English is becoming a necessity.
My uncle is a missionary (full time). He went to China for 2 years, and next week he'll be going to Kyrgyzstan for, I don't know, 5 years, I think.
I'm glad to see so many people involved with missions!
