Right now, I need new bathroom fixtures, lights, and mirrors before I can finish painting it. That would take at least $400 of it.
The rest would be spent for outside. I'm interested in purchasing a reel mower. No gas or electricity, plus it cuts grass better! We need new patio furniture cushions since the puppy has destroyed 1 and the rest are dirty. I also need to put in some new plants and rubber mulch to keep the weeds from growing.
I have a spare bedroom with dreadful carpet. I wish I could express how horrible it is. It's like, blue and green and grey all mashed together and put on a shag rug. AHHHHHH!
I will be replacing that this fall, after my parents' new house is finished and they can quit storing my late grandparents' dining room set and other junk in there. And then I'm going to make it a library, so I would spend the rest of the $$ on bookshelves
(ETA I'm saying this all without knowing how much it takes to recarpet a room, because I've never had to do it beore )

ohh, 1000 isn't much... I'd either do something practical like fix the hole in the guest room ceiling (oops!) or put down wood (laminate?) floors in the upstairs hallway.... or I'd head to a gallery downtown and splurge on a fantastic piece of art for the living room.
