Help me shop for my honeymoon!
Permalink Closed

Hello ladies.

Next month I am going to start shopping for our honeymoon in Los Angeles and Hawaii. I would love a full shopping list, with pics of your great ideas. I am not a skinny girl, so you will want to keep that in mind. I will have about $500 to spend. I love colors and items that flow. Comfort is important as is looking put together, especially for those days of walking around in Beverly Hills. I don't mind a little sexy either. A-line skirts are the best skirts for my body type.

I can't remember for the life of me what month your wedding is in.  What is the date and what will you be doing there?

Maybe check out http://www.calypso-celle.com/shop/cart.php?target=main&page=collections (I can't post pics - the site is flash) - Calypso is good for beachy things. I think Miguelina also does a honeymoon line, as well as their regular stuff being of the flowy/romantic type.

That site has beautiful clothes! Wow, it's pricey, but I would love to find some similar pieces for less.

On this sort of vacation I would probably end up wearing a flowy skirt, a wife beater, and flip flops every day.

$38 - I'm oddly drawn to this and it looks like an easy cover up.

$64 - I love J.Crew bathing suits and this looks like a flattering cut.  Halter styles like this look good on me, personally.

$98 - I have a really similar dress to this from J.Crew and it is sooo flattering.

$88 - I'm in love with this skirt, I think it's so cute.

$3.50 - I would wear nothing but flip flops on a trip like this.

$48 - This would go with anything.

I would get a pair of linen pants too, but those might be easier to find as spring gets closer.

This dress is $158, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Can someone justify this for me.

Love that dress too, but I'm not sure how versatile it would be on a trip.  I think it's fairly dressy...how many times on your honeymoon do you think you would get that dressed up?  I think there are other dresses out there that you could dress up/down as needed...example: throw it on with flip flops and a straw hat for day then add heels and a great necklace for night.

That said...if you really love it get it...it is after all your honeymoon and you deserve to splurge a bit.

  1. It would look gorgeous against your skintone.

  2. I tried it on and it is curve-friendly and fits my 36Cs. In fact, I think this dress fits better if you have curves, because I saw some really stick-like girls try it on and it looked weird on them.

  3. The back is elastic (it's smocking in the back), so the dress is way more comfortable than a typical dress. As in I could actually breathe.

  4. I got ten compliments while twirling around the dressing room. You will too.

  5. It isn't a super-trendy style so you can wear it for quite a few years. Even after your own honeymoon, it would be a good dress to pack away and wear to weddings all through the year.

I am weird and maybe no one should heed my advice, but I think that as long as you take the brooch off, you COULD dress it down for day with a danim jacket over it.

I love that dress too and have been trying to jusitfy it for the longest time. Sad thing is, I even make visits to Anthro to just see my dress. I am determined to get it if it ever goes on sale.

I am in love with that skirt, too!  I am actually really glad to see that someone else likes it.  I showed my husband he laughed at me and then I showed a co-worker and she said I wouldn't be allowed to wear it in the office   I am still going to buy it though, and I bet I'll wear it at least once a week all spring and summer.

Anyway, I really love the dress that Irene posted and Lilykind justified.  I think it's beautiful and would be a great choice

Are you wearing it by itself or under a blazer? I think its cute but it would never work on my current body.
