Which looks better with a skirt?
Permalink Closed

I've been observing this forum for a while and finally got the nerve to post a question.

So...I'm just curious ladies...when you wear skirts or dresses (I'm talking about attire for the office....knee length or just above the knee length skirts), are you more likely to wear heels/pumps or knee high boots with dressy heels? Are there advantages and/or disadvantages to either one? Thanks for the input!

I'm really into the 50's housewife, June Cleaver look, so I wear pumps. It fits the attire worn at the office where I work and that's just what I like best. I think knee high boots can look really cute with a skirt, but when I tried it I looked like a desprate, middle aged woman.

I personally prefer pumps... I think they are sexier, more flattering, more versatile, and dressier. I think boots look cute if you're wearing a more casual outfit. I hope I don't get crucified for this, but I am so sick of seeing people in tall boots and a short skirt. I think there are lots of ways to be more original and stylish. It's gotten to the point that lots of soccer moms have started wearing F*** Me Boots (that's what we called them in college) and making the look dated. HOWEVER if the boots are ornate/different and/or your wearing cool tights then that could be cool.

i wear heels, either pointy or round toe depending on my mood, w/ my knee length skirts to the office.  it's a matter of personal style i think.

oh but i'm w/ sfclinevandy about the f*** me boots, they should be out of the question regardless of personal style--esp. to the office!

hmm...don't know where to find a pic but i consider f*** me boots to be boots that zip up well above the knee, practically to mid thigh and if they're patent leather, they are definitely f*** me boots (imo).

everyone in our office wears knee high boots with knee length or longer skirts.  Girls who wear pumps-do you go bare legged?

I like both pumps and boots, but I wear a lot of boots in the fall/winter just for the warmth factor.  I'll also wear pumps w/ colored tights.  I'd sooner die than wear "hose" tho and it is too cold for bare legs right now.

Once the spring hits, the boots will get packed away.

The same holds true for my office. I wear knee high boots and a skirt almost every day. Fortunately my wardrobe consists of a lot of skirts and a LOT of knee high dressy boots. I repeat a combination every two weeks or so.

IMHO dressy knee high boots and a skirt can "hide" a multitude of "flaws" for many women. The high heels and tall shaft of the boots elongate the leg and enhance the overall silhouette of most women.

IMHO, knee high boots are a more casual look than pumps and therefore only appropriate in a casual office setting.  BTW, I found some F*** me boots that were so funny I just had to share:

Well, I think it all depends on the skirt and the shoes, i personally love skirts with knee high boots, i think skirts and pumps look like a Secretary outfit.

lmonet & m - c'mon - you have to agree that flashion/chicago/emily would be much better off focusing on boots like this

Oh, absoloutely!  Though this look is much less "F*** me" and much more "Don't even try 'cause I'm wearing a body-condom". . . .
