New to designer jeans, help please!
Permalink Closed

Okay, I found a store that has 20-30% off paper denim, COH, Yanuk, and seven jeans. What is the best style to get?  What are your favorites?  Also, I've heard some stretch, some shrink, so what's the deal with that? BTW, I'm 5'4 and never wear more than a 1/2 heel.  Do some come in short?Thank you for any questions you can answer!

What store has this discount?  I am also new to designer jeans so I am afraid I don't have any advice to offer.

everyone is different, so you really have to try them on to find what's good for your body type.  the only ones i know that come in short lenghts is diesel.

as far as stretching/shrinking, all jeans tend to shrink a little in length after the first few washes.  i don't have experience with 100% cotton jeans, but have a few pairs of stretch ones.  they do stretch out a bit after you wear them, so some people suggest buying them a little snug.  in my experience, they'll stretch out to be comfy if they are snug, but if they're skin-tight, they kind of stay skin-tight.

the jeans i have that i love are: seven mediterranean wash, seven rockers, and ag angel in black.  i have friends that rave about citizens' ingrid, true religion, saltworks, paperdenimand cloth, james.

if i were you i would go to a store that has a large selection and just start trying them on.  grab every pair you like in 2 or 3 different sizes.  keep in mind the sizing is all over the place, even within a brand.  i'm anywhere b/w a 27 and a 30, depending on the brand and style.

For me personally, I think Sevens fit the best. I am 5'3 and i ALWAYS have to get my jeans shortened. I dont think you're gonna find a pair of designer jeans like Seven, or COH that come in short. when i get them at nordstrom's though, they alter them there for free. Sevens have fit me the best and are the most comfortable. But I really want to start wearing COH as well because I've heard such great things about them. My Nordstrom's has a much bigger selection of Sevens though so that works better for me. I always grab around 3 sizes (27-29) of each pair of jeans though because they are ALL SO different. It takes forever to try everything on but in the end its worth it! Good luck! And by the way...what store did you find that coupon in??

I personall love both sevens and COH!! They are both great fitting, I like the A pocket style in sevens as well as the stretch ingrid in COH!! The best advice is t try on a ton and you will then realize what styles suit you best!

I hate the way paper denim fits me, so no recs there, and I've never tried on Yanuk. I really like COH's "Ingrid" style and 7s basic flares and bootcuts.  I also like 7's A-pockets, but they run really small in the thigh.

What's your body type? What jeans do you typically like?

The jeans are on sale in a store in Ann Arbor MI.  My body type is strange, that's why it's hard for me to find jeans.  I'm 5'4, 107. I usually wear size 0-2 but if jeans fit in the waist, they're too big in the thigh and if they fit in the thigh, they're too big in the waist.  Also I have NO ass.  Almost every pant sags in my ass because I don't have one. I guess I'll have to hem them huh? Thanks for the recs.

sounds like you have skinny thighs, so the A-pockets might be really great for you, because they run very small in the thigh.  And as a fellow buttless wonder, I can tell you they help out a lot! (Side note: remember when people used to not want asses? Damn you, J.Lo!)

Also, you may want to try 7 dojos, simply because they're supposed to be loose in the thigh, so it won't look weird. I find them to be booty-enhancing as well.

Also, if they have them, you should try True Religion's Bobby style or Salt Works' Orchard Street. They also run very thin in the thighs but are butt-enhancing.

Personally, I wouldn't go for PD&C. They are butt-flattening in my experience.

Have fun!
