Which rainboots? JCrew or Polo?
Permalink Closed

I was shopping the Magnificent mile yesterday and saw some rainboots that were on sale at Bloomies and JCrew. (I've wanted a pair for a long time and although I plan to wear them in the Spring, they're on sale now.) So...I need opinions please.

The JCrew rainboots were in more subdued colors, while the Polo colors (fuchsia, yellow, orange)..were very bright. Also, the JCrew look a little taller and the Polo looked to be a bit "wider" in the shaft. I didn't have time to try them on (TOO, TOO much shopping needed to be done.) Also can't post a pic because they are not on the web sites any more.

My question is...do any of you have personal experience with either pair of rainboots? Or..do you recommend another manufacturer. If so, please post a pic if possible. Thanks ladies!

P.S. Do any of you wear rainboots in very "slushy/sloppy" conditions during the Winter?

I have the Polo rainboots in fuchsia and they are SO much fun to wear! They are quite comfortable with 1 or 2 pair of socks. I've seen the JCrew boots in person and I think you are right. They are just a bit taller and a bit narrower in the shaft. But they were too subdued for my taste. I love the bright colors of the Polo rainboots.

P.S. I usually wear leather knee high boots in the winter, but I have worn the rainboots on sloppy/slushy days when the temp is around 40 degrees. They keep my feet absolutely dry whereas the leather boots get ruined and my feet get wet. HTH

P.P.S. I did find a picture of the Polo rainboots

I have the red J.Crew wellies with the bees on them. I reallly like my boots. They are pretty comfy and they fit well underneath my pants. I don't like to tuck my pants into my boots. I really like wearing them.

I do wear mine in the sloshy wet weather. They work really well. They are meant to keep your feet dry-not warm- so I do wear heavy socks underneath.

Emily and RyanJ..I like the looks of both of your rainboots, but I have a question for you and anyone else who would be willing to respond.

In our office slacks are pretty much taboo. Do you ladies wear your rainboots with skirts (of course changing at the office into shoes or leather boots)? I ask because I too want some rainboots but don't want to look silly. Thanks!

Oh I wear my rain boots with skirts all the time.  Sometimes I change and other times I keep them on all day.  My office is a tad relaxed though especially since I'm a student worker so you might not want to do what I do.  I think they look cute/fun with skirts and perk up a rainy day.
