hi everyone,
does anyone have any recommendations for running shoes for overpronating feet? i have a pair from adidas at the moment, and i am getting really bad blisters on the arches of my feet so i think i need a pair with a bit more support. i don't think there is anywhere near me where i can get professional recommendations or anything like that.

any help would be appreciated! thanks x

I ovrpronate too and have two pairs.  The pair I wear most often is the Saucony Grid Hurricane.  Mine are version 9 but version 10 is now on sale.  the second pair is the Asics Gel Foundation.  I believe mine are version 7.  I bought both pairs last summer when I did a learn to run clinic and have never run more than 6 miles at a time.  The Asics are a smaller fit so I had to size up a half size.  The Saucony fit tts.

I just got a pair of Brooks Addiction 7.  They're very comfortable and stablizing.

If you can, go to a local running store and try on shoes from all different brands. Each one fits very differently.

I overpronate like crazy and swear by New Balance. I have owned the 856 and 857, both of which are designed to help with overpronating. I believe the current incarnation is 858.

I tried the Saucony Hurricanes but didn't like them as much as my NB shoes, probably because I have wide feet as well. My NBs are both in wide sizes.

I agree totally with Lilykind.  I had my gait and foot checked at the Running Room and then tried on every shoe in the type for my foot.  I narrowed it down to a few and then tried them all again.  It is very much dependant on the shape of the foot.

Please go to a running store and try on a bunch. Not only does foot size/shape make a difference, but so does your gait, weight, the strength in your legs. Ask around for recs or do a google search, then head to your local running store with your old tennis shoes (they'll use them to determine you wear pattern and make recs). Wear comfy clothes, because any good running store will have a tredmill or let you take a jog around the block before you take them home. Also, one of the number one signs of a bad running store is them trying to force the most expensive shoes available. Yes, there are differences in the quality of a $120 pair of shoes versus a $60, but for most recreational runners, it won't make that much of a difference. Good luck!

I'm a super pronator and the best shoes I've tried are by Ryka... the N-gage style. My husband is also a super pronator and he swears by Asics but I'm not sure what style is best.
