summer in guatemala, what to wear? (dress code)
Permalink Closed

I will be spending 2 months in Guatemala this summer volunteering with Common Hope, here is what they wrote to me about dresscode:

·         We try to maintain a professional image at the Project, part of which is achieved by dressing appropriately, e.g. jeans/long pants, t-shirts.  Volunteers wearing shorts and tank tops will not be allowed to work.

Now I have to deal with finding clothes to wear in the 80 degree heat, not to mention it is their rainy season. I am thinking I will want lightweight materials that breathe easily and dry quickly, any ideas?

There are some great Under Armor shirts out now that are cut like fitted T's but are not cotton and breathe well.  Nike makes some too, called Tech Tee. I would check out a sporting goods store like Dick's or REI as they will have clothes made with Climatech or other wicking fabrics that will keep you cool.  North Face is another good brand. And they are coming out in cuter styles these days, too.
