that sounds so great. the grass is always greener, dot--i would give my left arm to be at home baking cookies today. i am stuck at work, where it is insanely busy, partially because most other people are on vacation and out having fun.

i'm sorry you feel like a slave. i can't wait to see the pic of the yule log though--that sounds amazing!

oooooooooooh thanks for posting the pic cc!

my boyfriend made the log based on something we saw in an old martha stewart living. the cake itself is a chocolate genoise with coffee swiss meringue buttercream. the bark is made out of dark chocolate.

i only made the tuile cookies which are shaped like leaves. i made my own stencil which was pretty fun.

more cookies to go tomorrow! yay!

i hear you, though (about staying up to bake) i had the day off on monday and all i did was make cookies and coconut balls. tonight i'm trying to make fudge-filled italian cookies (if i don't pass out)

wow, dot! that is so beautiful! i made one batch of walnut cookies when i got home last night and that is going to be the last gasp of my baking for the season.
