I have a bridal shower to go to next weekend, and I have NO CLUE what to get them as a gift.
No registry. Both are still in college and will be getting their first aparment after the wedding. So basically, they have next to nothing. They're kind of artsy and dorky if that help any.
How about some nice wine glasses and a bottle? If they are still in college they are probably used to plastic cups and Franzia so that would be a nice gift.

GAH!! That rules out a boat load of options. Hmmmm, how about a nice chip and dip set or some nice glass tumblers and a glass pitcher?

What about a small kitchen appliance - blender, toaster oven, crockpot, etc. If they are starting from scratch you could probably get just about anything for their new place.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the George Foreman grill with removeable plates. Seriously, it has changed my life. It has actually made me cook at home rather than going out to eat, it's super fast, easy to clean, and I can't say enough good things about it.
Also, a pressure cooker. A nice blender is nice to have around as well.
Seriously though. I don't use anything more than I use the George.
thanks guys! I feel like a grill may be the one thing they actually do have (I know that and a coffeepot was what i had in the dorms). i got them a combo blender/food processor (one base with interchangeable tops) it seemed pretty cool and useful, and i know she likes to cook and is excited to have a real kitchen, so hopefully it's something they can use!
and yes, esquiress I'll get a seperate wedding gift (probably cash or a Target GC). This is a relative, so I'm trying not to skimp too much, but the're so friggen hard to shop for! Like I saw some super cute plates, and I do know that they need plates, but I dont' want to lock them into acolor scheme that they may not like....
oh, and we live in the same town and I'll give them the receipt so they can return it if they want.
I think the blender/food processor combo is a great idea. Even if they don't use it immediately it's one of those things that you always pull out when you need and are glad you have. Plus if they get 2, they have a receipt and can exchange it for something else.
Btw, who gets married without a registry? Or at the very least, who has a shower and doesn't have a registry? No suggestions on the invite? Weird.
Blubirde, I think it's weird too, but I do know that some people who get married rather informally don't feel right about a registry. Some people think it makes them look greedy. However, I look at it as a service to me as a wedding guest.
Even if I don't shop off the registry, at least I get a sense of their likes, their color scheme, etc.
they got engaged on new years and are getting married June 1 and are both still in school. I'm sure they just didn't have time to think about a registry! The shower is also a surprise.

Ooooh. That makes much more sense. I just assumed they were involved in the shower, in which case it would be weird to have no direction on gifts, but since it's a surprise, I totally get it.
