My BIL is getting my daughters a yellow Lab puppy for Christmas. He's going to bring her in Christmas morning w/ a big bow! Anyway, I'm trying to come up with a few name suggestions to give to my 4 year old so the new puppy doesn't come up with some crazy name. We also have a black Lab named "Toby" (Tobias Tiberius ***, Esq.), and a cat named Bianca, just to give you a little background info.
Thanks for the help! I'll post a pic after Christmas!
**UPDATE** We got her this morning!!! No pictures yet, but she's adorable, 6 weeks old, and sooo much fun. We named her "Hollywood", "Holly" for short. We wanted a Christmasy sounding name, and that was all we could agree on. My daughter likes "Hollywood", so we'll use that in her registered name. I'll post a pic when we get home!
Puppy (my friend actually has a 5 yr old Dalmation and they could never agree on a name when he was a puppy).. now that hes 5, we all still call him Puppy.. It just stuck.. and I think its so cute!
My family has had 4 labs. First we had Belle (yellow) and Scarlett (black). When they died, my parents got Katie (yellow) and Sophie (black). They all are/were so sweet.
Our dog is Bear, I call him Mr. Bear, my dad calls him wildboy, or sometimes fatty( he is a very large golden, which is why we named him Bear b/c he looked like a bear cub). He almost was Duke. Our other dog RIP, was Hunter, but it was a she. I love Lu Lu, I would try to stay away from real "human" names b/c someone once told me there dog had the same name as my BF and that made me sad, he has what I call and uncommon "cool" name...first reason why I fell for him, but that is for another topic! The way we came up with our dogs name was we realized that my parents college team mascot and my HS mascot was the same and we could agree on that, then we saw our little bear cub and it was fate!
You can't call a lab "nanook"! That's against the rules - only huskies or malamutes can be 'Nanook'. It is spoken.
I love Dot's suggestions, though:
sunny
maple
ginger
Those are very fitting names for a yellow lab. You HAVE to post pics, btw, yellow lab puppies are the epitome of all that is knee weakeningly adorable.

Nick (for St. Nick ) cause you'll be getting him for x-mas
Or have your 4 year old come up with some names after knowing the pup's character and draw a name out of a hat. Let us know what you guys decide for the name...

So many cute names... I love the name Ginger, but that was the name of a dog my in-laws had. And Nickie would be perfect being Christmas and all, but that's my father-in-laws name!!! We'd never hear the end of it.
I can't wait to see her. My sister was saying she wanted to just let the puppy loose in the girls' room to wake them up. It's going to be sooo cute!!!

That's so funny. I know someone who named their dog that.
I used to have a yellow lab named Flapjack. But he got ran over twice, lost all his teeth, and had a bowel problem. Maybe you shouldn't named your dog that...
