What is the best way to find new designers? I'm wondering especially about in NYC. But I mean people who haven't been on stylebakery or dailycandy or really publicized at all. I'm wondering if there are magazines or websites that cover these designers. Thanks!

I usually find new designers from small boutique websites like Girlshop, Ravinstyle, Mighty Flirt and Virgin Threads. Also the vendor list from Shecky's Girls Night Out usually has a lot of smaller designers. They don't have the list up yet for the next one though. Vice Magazine, Paper and Time Out New York usually have things on new designers. Also Jane magazine has a monthly feature called something like "Clothes You Can't Find at the Mall."

i agree with cc, the best place to find new talent is in local boutiques, esp. smaller ones that are more willing to take risks on emerging talent. also check out www.genart.com  the frequently do events with young designers. interestingly enough i was reading an article about the line twinkle and the designer got her start via genart. and there's another site that always sends me emails about events, i can't quite remember the name,  but the emails are always for really cool concept parties. the last one i remember getting was for one that took place on a subway car.  the next time i get one, i'll post the info.
