You girls are inspiring me!

I work in a fragrance free office and rarely wear a scent anymore.  These all sound so yummy.  I think I'm going to order a few samples from luckyscents after the holidays.

I had a sample of Mure et Musc, and while it's very unique and I liked it, I didn't love it. It's kind of unisex smelling, but leaning on the feminine side. it's fresh, very cologney-- very musky. Just not my thing, but I'm more a sweet/spicy girl

you can find l'artisan fragrances at saks.  barneys also has a big selection of unusual/very high quality scents, including frederic malle.  if you want old-school, neiman's has all the oldies but goodies (like guerlain, which do not contain any synthetic ingredients and are thus stronger and longer-lasting).

OK, you know, I held back on my own thread. There is one scent that I am SUPER top-secret about (heh) and you can get a sample on luckyscent - it is Luctor et Emergo by People of the Labyrinths. Oooh DAMN it is so original and delicious smelling (although according to the reviews it doesn't work with everyone's chemistry) - to me it smells of cherries and almonds and fresh grass. It is AWESOME.

Here are the other fragrances I've liked on the site:

Clean Ultimate and Clean Baby Girl - both very fresh without being typical, also light and not at all overpowering. This is the one I would recommend to people who don't wear perfume. Baby Girl is a stupid name but it's very subtly sweet - I think the main note is cyclamen - without being sugary.

All the CSP fragrances...the Vanille Coco is very warm and earthy. It's pretty hard to find a good vanilla scent, most of them are nasty.

Kai - I don't know anyone who has smelled this who didn't love it. Lush and floral and tropical. Love.

Lea St Barth - not for everyone but the site say this: "Pillowy soft, dreamy and almost impossible to find, we can’t get enough of this scent. Like baby powder for adults-- comfy, cozy, but sexy as all get out." and I totally agree with that.

Pilar and Lucy - They have 3 scents, one of which is new. One is named 'The Exact Friction of Stars" then there is 'To Twirl All Girly" and the new one is "Tiptoeing Through Chambers of the Moon" - I wanted to buy these based on names alone but Exact Friction is actually a nice scent as well, if you like food-y scents (it smells like ice cream to me) and I also like To Twirl... I want to try the new one, which sounds very nice.

Maddie - I like your picks and please post a review when you get them.

i want one! i want to smell like grass. actually i want to smell like soapy grass. i've never worn anything, and department store perfume counters make me sneeze, but all of these sound cool. maybe one of those clean brand ones? but on luckyscent it says they fade almost immediately. hmm.

this is such a fun thread!  i like reading what everyone's secret favorites are.

bumblebee, i wear narcisco rodriguez for her too.  it's my current favorite -- makes me feel very feminine and "potent," which feels like a dirty word to type. he he

mia, i have clean ultimate too.  i do feel like it doesn't last super long, but it smells so fresh and cool and like spring-time to me.

my grandmother once brought me a tiny bottle of perfume from bulgaria, which i loved.  it was very spicy.  i've used it very sparingly because the chances of me ever going to bulgaria are slim, and i'm actually not even sure what it's called.

My favorite perfume is LouLou by Cacharel. I am quite sure it has been discontinued. I keep the long empty bottle just so I can smell it, even though it has gone a little off. One of my friends told me years ago if he had a girlfriend (he is gay) she would wear LouLou. Awwwww. I used to wear the original Dolce and Gabbana too. But now I find it too heavy. Right now I am fumbling around in the scent department, wearing body lotions and essential oils and wishing LouLou could be reborn!!

so late on this post, but if anyone's still reading, I concur on the L'Artisan recommendations - they are very unique.  You can get them at blue mercury or their online store:

http://www.bluemercury.com/

I had a bottle of Dzing! and I loved it so much.  it tended to wear off a little throughout the day but it seems most non-department store perfumes do that on me.  the bottles are really cool and french-looking, too.

Right now I wear Stella, which isn't exactly cult but it is sorta new and smells like a rose garden, but in a young fresh way, not like old lady rosewater.  and it has sort of a dark undertone, too.  unfortunately i feel like it wears off easily, so i'm looking to buy the lotion and shower gel.  then I'll REALLY stink.

I have a bottle of Carolina Herrera Chic, but i only liked it for about 10 seconds.  now i just want to use it up so i can throw it out already.

demeter makes a grass scent. a lot of their fragrances fade quickly though (well, at least on me they do). they make a laundromat scent too. maybe you can combine them? soapy grass is an interesting concept. sounds like something a suburban lawn freak would be into. actually i think they make lawn soap that is an alternative to pesticides. hmmm ok that's my contribution to this thread. most perfumes smell like ass on me.

I saw the bottle at Anthro today and the bottle was so cute I had to try it. If I was still a florals girl, I would so wear it. It smells sooo good, even nearly 12 hours after I sprayed it on my skin. I may just get it anyway because of the bottle.

I defintely have a sweet side, but I'm looking for something more complex that a simple floral or foody. I was exploring in Sephora today with the CSP and the Vanille Coco and Vanille Canelle are calling my name, though. *sighs*

I'm psycho, but I am trying hard to search for a sample of Chanel No. 22, because it's the "original" white floral perfume and because it's so hard to find now.

thanks cc. i'll have to look into that lawn soap, er, i mean, demeter fragrance. i would imagine laundromat as a more dryer sheet smell, whereas i want to smell like just-shampoo'ed hair. and the lawn. so are a lot of these available at sephora? i was just there but all i checked out was the new fresh sake scent and some other fresh scents before i got overwhelmed and left.

yeah from what i recall, laundromat is more dryer sheet. i've never smelled demeter grass before, but most of their scents are shockingly realistic.
they have demeter on the sephora web site, but i've never seen it in the stores before. i might just be blind though but i swear i've looked a few times and have been unable to find it. they carry demeter at anthropologie though.

Mia, I love Clean Baby Girl too! unfortunately like a minute after I spray it on myself, the lovely violet disappears and it smells simply like baby powder on me, so that's why I never bought it. I will have to try that Luctor scent though. I do love almond (who doesn't?) but I prefer complex scents- I like the almond to be blended with at least a few other notes, so this one sounds perfect! and it seems like we have the same taste in scents, so I'll probably love it too! thanks for revealing your secret weapon!

Bean - Luckyscent sells samples so no reason not to try it that way! It is one of those scents that people either love or hate, and it seems to be based on body chemistry so definitely try a sample first.

The Clean Baby Girl is quite a sweet scent without being foody at all, and as for amber-based I would rec. the Jo Malone Lavender and Amber (although that means you should like lavender as well). I *think* Creative Scentualization might have an amber-based scent and they sell are stocked at Luckyscent so check it out.

(I swear I do not work for luckyscent!)

One more thing: The CSP Vanille Cannelle is delicious and not as brash as it may sound. I find it quite soft, esp. after it's been on for an hour or so.

I just went on a luckyscent.com shopping spree.  I bought a full size bottle of Les Nereides Musc de Java- it has okay reviews but I tried it in France and loved how it smelled on me after a few minutes.  Then I bought samples of:

Geisha Noire

Monyette Paris

La Maison de la vanille- madagascar

violetta di parma

comme des garcons- sequoia and white

I'm so excited!!!

This is a cool old thread!

Mine would be Crown of Gold by Crown Perfumery Co. (UK). I don't wear it much, and it could probably be certified as a "granny" fragrance. But, when I put the tiniest amount on, it smells sexy, unique-yet classic at the same time. I barely touch my skin with the dauber, which does the trick.

Another one is the old Sensual Shapers fragrance from Victoria's Secret. It was discontinued when I worked there back in 97-98. I LOVE it and it's almost gone!

Shoot, mia - now I need to try that Comptoir Sud Pacifique.  I love yummy smells like that.

Mine are not so cultish that I use right now.... just Fresh Lemon Sugar during the day and Hanae Mori Butterfly during the day.

dc, my signature scent is Hanae Mori butterfly also.  I am not too secretive about it though because if anyone asks what I'm wearing, when I tell them, they usually shrug and don't recognize the name.
