What women do you look up to that have succeeded in the business world?   I think that it's great that more and more women are taking on larger roles in the corporations.  One of my favorites is Indra Nooyi, CEO of Pepsi.  She was awarded 50 Most Powerful Women by Fortune, and is also doing a lot to decrease Pepsi's affect on the environment.

There are so many but I think that the first that comes to my mind is Diane Von Furstenberg. She put her name on the map by designing the "wrap dress" that was considered a very affordable alternative for the working woman. Since then, her business has boomed and she is even president of the CFDA's. Meanwhile she comes from money and married a prince.. I don't think she'd have to work a day in her life if she didn't choose to.

I agree- DVF is a great example-- not to mention I love all her stuff!  Indra Nooyi comes from a different background, but they are similar in the way they have rose to the top of their respective fields, and taken on more and more leadership roles.  By the way, what does CFDA stand for??

The ones who come to mind first are Helen Gurley Brown (Hearst), Tina Brown (various media companies), Carly Fiorina (HP), Liz Smith (Avon).

CFDA Council of Fashion Designers of America - I believe they create the rules for those participating in fashion week and they hold annual awards ceremonies.

Those are all really good examples. Its weird to think that women were not even able to vote until 1920... and now we have people like Indra Nooyi, Nancy Pelosi, and so many others in high positions really making a difference.
