can this work for a wedding?

I bought this top yesterday:

I'm still not completely convinced that I want to keep it. I think I would if I could figure out how to wear it to an upcoming wedding :)

It's not a super-fancy wedding, but I think I have a lot of leeway in the casual/fancy department. I'd like to wear a skirt and heels. It's going to be around Denver, CO on a May evening. Weather.com says that the high is usually in the 70s and the low is in the 50s in Denver, so I'm figuring it'll be about 60 during the wedding? This top is light so I think that will be okay. It's also sheer so I have to wear some kind of camisole underneath.

Any ideas? All I can think of is a grey pencil skirt and maybe purplish heels, but I can't decide if that will actually work in real life. And I'm open to better ideassmile

I think a pencil skirt would look cute. Since it is a gray top I would probably wear a black pencil skirt. I think purple heels would look cute!

Your outfit idea sounds cute, but to be honest, it sounds more office-y than something for a wedding.

Since it's sheer, maybe you can wear it over a lightweight silk slipdress?

Not that I can find any online, but I picture it with a gray satin pencil skirt. However, here's a pretty a-line at Maxstudio.com ($58):

The only thing I could see it working with is a gold brocade pencil skirt, gold strappy heels and fabulous clutch bag (maybe in the purple you are looking for). I think solid, closed toed pumps would make the outfit scream office. Think metallic to dress it up!

What type of venue will the wedding be at? (semi-fancy restaurant, casual but nice restaurant, banquet hall, hotel, etc.?

I like these ideas. I think that as long as the wedding isn't too dressy, that would be a fine outfit.

The wedding itself will be in a church, and then we're going to a nature preserve for the reception.

ETA: I don't know more about the nature preserve. I mean, I have no idea if we're going to be eating like outside in the woods, or inside in a big hall, or what.

I agree with Suasoria's idea of a satin skirt, that would dress it up. If not satin, then a skirt of some kind of fabric that has a sheen to it, like that kind of silk that's texturized and stiff. I think it's dupioni or Thai silk. Don't know where to find one, though.

What about wearing flowy, white/cream pants? Something like:

or:

or something with less wide legs:

with an open-toed gold shoe like:

or:

It's a very pretty top BTW. You could get a lot of wear out of it.

thanks, girls! I love the idea of a grey satin skirt. Now, I just have to go out and find one!

I do think that pants would look cute but I try to wear pants as little as possible in my life, and especially at dressy occasions. Nothing against them, I just don't feel very "me" in pants! I know it sounds goofy!

It's not the best option, but this sateen skirt at Spiegel has a decent sheen (got a catalog today with better pictures)
