my deodorant is bleaching my clothes!
Permalink Closed

I don't know what's going on anymore. In the past, a few odd shirts of mine have developed bleached armpits after about a day. At first I didn't know what was going on, until one day I got deodorant streaks on the inside of a shirt while putting it on, and by the end of the day those streaks were bleached. Not completely white, but definitely lighter.

So I started trying to allow my deodorant more time to dry before I put a shirt on, but I don't know if that's helping or not. I walked around topless for about 10 minutes this morning before putting my shirt on, but I got those bleached streaks again. The weird thing is, I just got those streaks, but my armpits didn't bleach. This happened last week with a shirt I've worn a dozen times before with no problems. I haven't changed my deodorant in years, so it wasn't like a new product had a different reaction with my clothes. FWIW, I use Secret Platinum Protection clear gel.

Does anyone else get this or know how to prevent it? It's driving me crazy and now I have a bunch of shirts I only wear to bed or layered under things because they're ruined after just one wear!

Hmm. Secret Platinum always made my underarms turn yellow, so I stopped using it. I know that to get the yellow out you're supposed to wash it with a couple of aspirin tablets or something, but I don't know that you can do anything for bleached out spots...I'd probably try switching deodorants. I like the degree lbd approved stuff.

Maybe did you start a new medicine or something that may be causing the deodorant to react differently with your ph?
