Airbrush vs. Traditional Makeup

I'm de-lurking myself to ask you ladies about the pros and cons of airbrush vs. traditional makeup.  Everyone here always seem so savy about makeup products so I thought someone might have some tips or advice.

I had a makeup trial for a wedding with airbrushing and about 3 - 4 hrs later I noticed lines on my forehead and around my eyes (a la Rachel Zoe).  Without makeup, I don't have these lines, so I'm guessing it's from general facial movements as opposed to settling in fine lines (at least I hope so).

You know those flawless pictures you seem to see everywhere?  How do women get that look?  Besides photoshopping :)  I don't normally wear makeup, so can this be done with regular makeup?  Or do I need to find another airbrush artist?  Help!

I come up with with the best results when I do the following:

1. Clean and exfoliate face

2. Spritz on some alcohol-free toner (I use Aveda)

3. moisturize with a light to medium-weight lotion

4. Apply a good tinted moisturizer (I like Laura Mercier) with fingers

5. Using a concealer brush, apply tiny amount of concealer only where you need it.  Blend well.  (Vincent Longo's cake style is my fave - don't know name of it and too lazy to look it up)

6. Apply thin layer of sheer powder (I use MAC Select Sheer with the applicator that comes in the compact)

So I don't look powdery, I try to apply powder starting at the sides of my forehead and blend down.  I never go straight from the compact to the nose, and I avoid my eyebrows with both the TM and the powder.

It seems to me that the airbrush stuff would just sit on top of your skin.  I don't know because I haven't tried it.

Whichever makeup format you choose, you should shop around for a good makeup artist if you can.  Looking back at my wedding, I wish I would've just done my own makeup.
