Have you guys seen any that would hold up well with books and a lot of weight?I have a backpack now, but I think a tote would be a lot more stylish!! I don't want leather but mayber something in a canvas or other material. ???

I have used a tote from American Eagle that holds my heavy books pretty nicely. (I went back to using a backpack since right now I have a further trek across campus). I think this Abercrombie & Fitch one looks sturdy too:

herve chapelier and longchamp totes were popular when i went to college.

if you're looking for cheaper alternatives, etsy has some fun ones.

my jack gomme tote has survived quite a bit of abuse, and i'd recommend them, too.

A lot of girls at my school have Coach messenger bags. Sorry, can't find a picture. A couple of girls at my grad school have Longchamp totes as well.

I'm partial to Triple 5 Soul, and Paul Frank for whimsy.

It is not that sexy, but Macys.com has this DVF tote for half-off ($50 versus $100), and it has a ten-year warrantee:

Comes in a nice dark red color too. I have not seen it IRL but the customer reviews are very good.
